  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Alright everyone, this is the 4th screen in 2 years (yeah, it's ridiculous). Saw this a few days ago, finally got a pic of it. What is going on inside? They're not scratches and it's not surface level. It looks like the inside clear plastic is getting creased. My second screen did this 2 weeks after install and the dealer replaced it under warranty. I'm out of warranty now and just wondering what the hell is going on and if it's going to create long-term issues. Currently you can only see the lines in direct sunlight but at night that same corner looks like it might be developing the same delamination the other screens have (the corner is 'lighter' than everywhere else, noticeable at night), but you can't see the typical, obvious delamination.

Is this screen screwed??? Last thing I want to do is pay out for a FIFTH screen.infotainment 2.webpinfotainment 1.webp

It's almost certainly the start of delamination. The adhesive layer between the LCD and the top glass is failing. Those are stress lines in the adhesive.
The screen is on its way out. That lighter corner at night is the telltale sign. Heat cycles (sun on the dash, then cold) make it worse.

Long-term, it will likely spread. The screen won't "die" functionally at first, but the lines and that washed-out spot will get more obvious. It's a known, chronic flaw with these units. You're not doing anything wrong.

Oh, it's a chronic issue, baby. Like I said, it's the fourth bad screen in 2 years. Completely unacceptable in a $20k car, let alone a $50k 'premium' product. Now it needs a 5th screen. It's almost comical at this point.

But really, I appreciate you clearing up the details of what's happening, though. Hopefully it helps me make a good faith argument to the dealer and they actually give a crap.
