  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello all,
Not sure if you guys have seen this before but I installed open pilot on my genesis about 4-5 months ago. When I'm on the highway I just hit cruise and the car does most of the work. I tried posting the video here but I can't get it to upload.

Interesting.

I've been a member since I bought a genesis but haven't really had anything to post. You can see my previous post had to do with a similar idea but much less refined. I find it cool and only found out about it by digging since there isn't a lot of info out there about it.

Yeah I think it is cool as well and have considered it, but my g80 is leased and i’m not about to splice the wiring.

My above post was just an observation, that over the last week several people have popped up with info on this product, and all of them have 1-2 posts.

Sorry, I thought you meant I was trying to sell it! I didn't have to splice any connectors. I was able to build a harness that connects to the stock LKAS camera. I wouldn't have the guts to splice wires in my car!!

Good to know..

I think the LKAS and SCC in the g80 work well in their existing state, lane centering would be nice, but it might make me a bit distracted, having to maintain hand control keeps one alert to the idiots around them.

The one issue with the SCC and even the Tesla auto pilot system (used it many times) is that it doesn’t react IMO fast enough for jack holes that cut in between you and the car in front of you when there is not enough room, or guys that swoop across lanes and hit the brakes when they get in front of you.

In both of these situations SCC has almost rear ended the car and if I had not slammed the brakes, it would have, there was no reaction from the system because there wasn’t enough time or space in front of me for it to determine there was and issue.

The other issue IMO with SCC is if the car in front of you is out of range, and stops SCC can’t see it and will not apply the brakes, I’ve been on roads that were relativity clear, then all of a sudden there is a stopped car in front of me that SCC didn’t detect and I had to again slam the brakes to avoid a full speed collision.

This has happened in the g80 and in a model S and model 3 that I have driven, the systems just are not quite there yet IMO. They can’t determine and respond to the inconsiderate morons that occupy the roads everyday.

I agree, the stock scc is a little rough and slow. I always pay attention and realize this isn't a substitute for good driving. I also don't drive in stop and go traffic so it doesn't affect me as much. I live in Saint Louis and have done a trip to Kansas City and Lake of the Ozarks and it was great. There was light traffic and no real stops so it works perfectly. What follow distance do you keep your SCC at?

On the freeway in stop and go I keep it at 2. If traffic flow is above 65 I change it to 4.

In stop and go 4 leaves to much of a gap and results in jack-holes constantly cutting in front of you thinking they will get 5 feet further than from the lane they were in.
