  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

New version of the steering Genesis winged steering wheel emblem is here: Genesis Steering Wheel Emblem in 3D - Genesis Owners

I'm not a big DIY guy, but I wanted the KDM Full Kit installed on my 2014 Genesis V6 3.8L Sedan and I trusted no one but myself. I followed the YouTube Video that gave me the step by step actions to removing/installing the rear Hyundai emblem. I followed the video exactly and the old was off and the new emblem on in about 30 minutes. I was surprised how easy it came off. Most of the time was using the Goo Gone to get the glue off. The key was to put the GG on generously and WAIT then start peeling off.

The steering wheel emblem was the easiest. I cleaned the Flying H with alcohol, heated it up a tad with my heat gun and stuck the new emblem on holding it firmly for a couple of minutes. Piece of cake.

Putting the hood emblem on the front was the challenge. I found no real info on how to do it so I developed my own technique that worked for me. I did read somewhere that the emblem should be 1 inch above the chrome grill so that was my starting point. I first cleaned the area using the Vinegar Windex I used for the rear. I used a 1 inch by 12 inch plastic ruler and some painting tape. I positioned the ruler with the 6 inch marker in the center of the grill. I then taped it down with the painting tape. I placed the winged emblem on the top of the ruler at the 6 inch mark and kept eyeballing until it was perfectly horizontal. I then put the blue tape at the three top points of the emblem and marked with a pencil on the tape where the points should touch. I removed the 3M tape backing and aligned all the points to the pencil marks. I gently positioned and again used my trusty heat gun for about a minute and pressed firmly on the emblem holding it in place 2-3 minutes. (I used a small towel due to the emblem still being hot) I removed all the blue tape and the ruler and Voila! The KDM Kit was now complete! I went back and forth initially on should I put the Winged emblem on or keep the clean no emblem look on the front. I made the decision to put it on and I'm VERY, VERY happy that I did! :)

It looks great! I understand going back and forth about the front wing. I put one on my first 2011 Genesis. At first I liked it, but over time my feelings changed. Mostly, I felt it visually shortened the hood. But, I never removed it. However, when I traded for a 2013 last year I decided this time to leave the hood wing off. Sometimes I think I'd like it back. Usually not. It's great we get decide what we like best on the first generation cars.
