  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

How important are working brakes to you? To the people in front of you?

I understand what you are saying but brakes still seem to be working fine.

Under normal conditions they may work but if you need the anti-lock to kick in it may not. Same with the stability control.
Some of those parts can be expensive. You may want to consider used if they are. Don't wait long to see either dealer or indy shop to be sure.

Appreciate the feedback, all lights went off this morning on instrument cluster so not sure what to think honestly.

Would you at least check your brake fluid level?

Your checking account appreciates it. As joegr mentioned check the brake fluid, but it could have been a weather related quirk too. Technology is wonderful when it works perfectly.

EdP and Joegr appreciate the advice. Brake fluid level near max so good there.
I think it’s what you said EdP, because when I was driving in snowy conditions lights came in, so I think it is a weather related quirk.

When snow or heavy rain builds up on the clear plastic plate you get at least one error message for the auto braking and SCC

A failing HECU can exhibit the behavior noted by the OP: a electric HECU/ABS unit fault. When those lights are on, all computer-assisted brake functions are disabled (ABS, stability control, traction control, parking brake, auto-hold). A 20min car off reset can clear a fault like this, but it can come back randomly if the fault condition repeats while driving.

You'll know the HECU failed when you lose brakes in one or more wheels. But by then it may be too late, and it can come again at a very bad time.

Happened to me in the middle of a hurricane evacuation with the entire family in the car + luggage + 10 gals of gas. Not good.

Get if fixed.
