  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Thanks to these forums, I learned about the flapper in the air box. I removed it and will see what difference it makes tomorrow. I know it will not increase performance at WOT, but am hoping for better throttle response at part throttle. For those that have done this mod do you think it has increased throttle response?

My only complaint with the car is that it doesn't downshift into the gear that I want at part throttle. I can get it to downshift one or two gears or by pressing the button at the bottom of accelerator pedal get it into the lowest gear available. I want to be able to get right in between though without going all the way to floor.

Done it long ago. A little more sound is about all you'll get.

Generally speaking, one cannot discern a performance boost of less than 10% just using "seat-of-pants" dyno. No doubt the Genesis' intake/exhaust are restrictive, designed so to reduce and eliminate sound. So, remove the flap. Just do not expect to feel much performance increase. It is easily reversible.

As for throttle response, the best thing out there to so improve response is a SprintBooster. I have one on my RSpec and had them on my '09 and '11 Genesis. Would buy them again, and again.

The sprint booster has been talked about all over these boards. Do NOT clog this thread up with that please. Use the search function.

How long did it take you to remove the flapper?

chill out dude. its not like this forum is so busy with new ideas that people cant take the time out to help a fellow owner out who is interested in making their car special to themselves. in the audi forums there were a few people who actually took the time to figure things out for themselves then took the superiority route with others who were not in their clique. this car is almost as limited as my b6 s4 audi convertible, but that doesnt mean that you are so special as not to help out someone else who has a question. the purpose of the forum is to help those who need it while receiving help as we need it. youre driving a hyundai, not a bently, keep it in perspective. by the way, congrats on the new car.

This thread died out anyway. I am finding these boards to be less informative than my desires :(

80% of the threads here are of no interest to me -- but the other 20% more than make up for those that don't. After a while, I began to look for the posts of specific users who seemed knowledgeable, rational and/or entertaining. Like commercials or talk radio, we can turn the dial or walk out if the room.

Personally, I'll stick around.

This is true, but the other forums are even less used. This one has the occasional gem, or at least the cubic. I have been able to rebadge, red painted calipers (no brembos), rear spoiler and tint the outside. Flapper removed, know of the esc off/ fuse rewire (haven't done it yet), and the x pipe cut outs seem interesting. But this is only possible if we continue to try and help each other find ways to improve this car, and possibly convince an aftermarket to tune the engine or tranny shift points. Sorry if I came off a little strong earlier dude.

Yeah, sometimes I feel like I don't fit in because I don't have an IT qualification, and many of the posts on this forum are relating to the tech in the Genesis. *Yawn* The tech on the Genesis is great, but I don't find interesting enough to talk about on a regular basis. Now the Tau and the ZF is another story:cool:

Yea, y'all are right. I guess coming from a forum that has been around since 1999 and has over 17k active members spoiled me.

I still continue to help, but there is only so many times I can talk about the same thing over again....

If you were a part of my other forum, you would see that I have roughly 13 links in my signature so I don't have to continue to repeat myself.
