If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi everyone,

On a 2015 3.8 v6 Genesis, what is the most effective way to clean the intake manifold plenum and intake runners? Not the intake valves.

Is the manifold made of plastic, aluminum or steel?

Can we completely remove the intake manifold and manually clean it? Which cleaners to use? What is the cleaning process?

Thank you in advance,
Husam

I would not waste time cleaning the intake manifold, because carbon build-up seems to occur on the valve stems and inlet chambers surrounding the valves stems. However, you could probably spray some carbon cleaner like CRC in to the intake manifold runners with the intake manifold removed and let it drain out; which may clean out any carbon that may have formed inside the intake manifold.

The intake manifold is made of plastic, however our engines may also have a lower manifold as well that is metal.
