  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello and welcome
The stock system is quite good...I know not what you wanted to hear.
Most people remove the intake "flaps" in each air box and be done with it.
Open the air box and the small one, pull out the filters then you will see a small flap that you can remove.

Thank you, I will try that today.

I currently run the stock system on my 5.0, I've ran a custom 4" shielded intake with no signs of increase in anything other than noise.

Stock system is quite effective and it fits my preferences regarding noise.

Whatever you do, avoid installing unshielded intakes as they tend to soak up heat from the engine compartment and raise your IAT's.

I agree, and the RC2 intake only promise more sound no horse power gains on the website. That's why I was reluctant to even buy one. But I'm power starved, so if it wasn't for all of the aftermarket intakes doing nothing for performance I would have done it. I didn't remove my flap I just keep it open and notice less down low or off the line torque. Thank you for responding God bless you.

Did you remove the "flap" in both air boxes and leave everything else stock? I dont understand when you said "I just keep it open"?
When I removed both of the flaps...the throttle response is much better and very little if any lag as before. Why I am 100% happy with keeping it as is

Mine is held open, I didn't remove the flap because I wanted to check to see if I like it, it's been open for so long now I don't remember the difference. My impression was the opposite of yours, but I have a tune on the car and I figured the car had to learn the difference. The tune had a option for stock intake or aftermarket, I chose stock ,so maybe that's my issue, I kinda like the slower response off the line because I get no tire spin and I've only been beaten off the line by a Audi awd by half a car before game over. Plus is it me or does tire smoke look like burning money? Spinning ain't winning. Lol. God bless.

Unless you floor it from a stop, or turn off the ESC...(I have a few times for fun), the car hooks up nicely. I am mostly talking about when going say 30mph, looking to pass...with a more free flowing air intake (no flaps...), the response is quick now.

Oh ok, I think I'm going to get a Sprint booster, I drive the Fwy everyday and punching it for a 40 mph to 80mph or above. I get that turbo lag feel, I want to get rid of that. It runs great and it sounds awesome. I did a dig this morning with the esc off I need to record it because no one is going to believe me. How it leaves out the hole and keep accelerating my top speed so far 156 mph racing a 2017 ,18,19 mustang. Sorry for rambling. God bless.
