Anyone experience intake valve deposits in late model Genesis engines?
 
It's a direct injection engine. It's going to happen.
 
The reason I ask is because I am looking at a new Genesis for my wife. I drive a 04 Mercury Marauder and use some MMO(Marvel Mystery Oil) in the gas and I have never had a problem on any of my cars: Monte Carlo, El Camino (470,000 miles) old Grand Prix, old Bonneville. :)
 
The reason you have not had a problem is because the fuel cleans your valves in a non-DI engine. ALL DI engines will have carbon buildup on the intake valves. It is the nature of the beast. Toyota has a system that uses both port injection and direct injection. This system is used on the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ.

I have never used Marvel Mystery Oil and I have never had any problem on my non-GDI engine Genesis, or any other car I have owned over the years. What does that mean?

Marvel Mystery Oil... Is that a new euphemism for snake oil? :)

It is actually a very old euphemism for snake oil, and will void the warranty if Hyundai finds out. What I find amazing is that there is one single MMO product that is supposedly for use in either the crankcase or in the fuel tank. Last time I looked, motor oil and gas have very different properties.
