  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Interesting new feature in the Middle east market Genesis

The "Smart Cruise Control" and "Electronic Parking Brake" are neat features also. What's with the "Rear Power adjustable seat with remote audio control" and the "Safety Power trunk lid" - are these already available on Korean models?

I have "auto brakes" on my BMW 750Li and I LOVE that feature.. You really don't know how nice it is until it's available for you..

Seems like the U.S. got short changed on our version of the Genesis.

You bet. Starting with the suspension where air springs got removed for the US model. What did consumer reports say again:

The only real drawback is its ride, which can be unsettled at times and doesn't live up to the standards set by other luxury cars.

I bet we get these options by the time all the 2 year leases finish on this year's Gen. It will be hard not to sign a new lease with these options added.

• Electronic Parking Brake: simply flick the switch to ingage/disengage the parking brake (late availability )

• Auto-Hold Brakes which during stops eliminates need for driver to keep constant pressure on brake pedal; brakes are released automatically upon application of throttle pedal (late availability )

My 2006 Passat had both. Found myself using the EPB, not so much the AHB. What I REALLY miss from that car is the 1-tap, 3-blink turn indicators. Btw, it also had the Adaptive Front Lights. The difference is I could actually see them turn during a turn or around a curve. Has anyone seen the Gen's do this?

I have not noticed it yet. I have been looking for the movement at different speeds. Some have said that at start up they can see the lights go through a self alignment by moving up, down and side to side. I have not seen this either. The dash light comes on and then goes out at start up (as per the manual) so I assume all is OK and that I am just not noticing the movements.

yup! easiest way to see that it is there is the little dark spot that is inbetween where the two beams intersect moves around. most noticable at lower speeds (25mph). drive along and start rolling the steering wheel left and right from about 10 to 2 pm on the clock face.

do i think this feature adds great functionality, not really. just one more gizmo to go wrong.....

Re: the Auto Hold. Don't like the idea as I believe this could cause rotor warp. When I come to a fast stop, the rotors get very hot. If I sit with my foot on the brake, the rotors and pads get "heat soak" which causes the rotors to warp. Now, whenever I come to a fast stop, I always either allow the car to "creep" forward to "spread the heat", or if there is not enough room in front, I just put the car in neutral to allow the pads to slightly back off the rotors. Since I started doing this, I've never had warped rotors.

Re; Automatic Parking Brake. I guess it is ok with this car, or any automatic transmission car, however it sucks with a manual transmission car. Whenever I got to Europe, I always lease (not rent, but lease) a Renault Laguna through www.renaultusa.com in New York City. Great car. The last one had the automatic parking brake. If I am stopped on a hill, I like to hold the car with a manual hand parking brake, but I can't do that with an automatic parking brake. What I had to do was either be very quick with my right foot between the brake and the gas when starting on a hill, or I had to shut down the engine so the automatic parking brake came on, the restart engine. Brake would release when I let out the clutch.

It wasn't just Consumer Reports, it was virtually every reviewer of the Genesis that made similar comments. I even saw a Car and Driver video review that commented on it (and anyone who knows about Car and Driver knows that they hate soft cars more than any other auto publication).

I don't think Hyundai made the change in the US model for financial reasons. I think they really thought the US automotive press and most of the public wanted something that was a lot stiffer and better handling than the Korean version. I think Hyundai was right about that, but I also think that they just over-did it a bit.
