  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
    If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

A few months ago, I purchased an extra Genesis Oil Filter, at my Hyundai Dealer, to carry with me, for the day that I may have to change my oil and no Hyundai Dealer nearby. Never really took a close look at it. I know it is the correct filter because my Parts man, showed me the difference between the Genesis Filter, and other Hyundai Filters (The Genesis Filter is smaller), and is the same filter the technician installs in my Genesis.

OK, today I decided to clean out my trunk of various "stuff" since the two long trips I've taken, in April and again in May.

The Hyundai (Genuine Parts) Oil Filter box says, "Made in Korea" and has part number "26320 3F100" (1 PC MADE IN KOREA). However when I take a close look at the filter, and read the (very hard to read) printing on it, it says;
MAHLE DX361, 26330 3C300, MADE IN AUSTRIA.

Box says one thing. Filter says another thing. Strange!

Yeah, tires made in Japan majority owned by US company, Tranny made by Germans,car assembled in Ulsan, S. Korea. I think half their cars are made in Alabama. Globalization...this salad i'm eating may have come from Chile, who knows?
As long as the oil filter is from Hyundai, I am fine with it being made anywhere. But I hear you, it's odd.

Well, what I found strange was that the two part numbers are different, and the filter says Made in Austria while the box says Made in Korea. Maybe they mean that the box is made in Korea. <grin>

Maybe they meant the printer typing the letters on the box was made in Korea.:D

I have purchased several oil filters for the V6 (which I believe is the same filter as for the V8) and the part number on the box is 26320 3C250. I have installed the filter on the one oil change I have done myself so far.

On the filter itself, it says Dongwoo Ltd. who is a supplier for Hyundai (http://www.dwfilter.co.kr). The company is apparently called Mann+Hummel Dongwoo Co. Ltd. The filter itself also says "Made in Korea."

On the filter (in addition to the same part number from the box) is the both the Hyundai and Kia logo since it apparently is specified for one of the Kia autos also.

Edit: Further research shows that Dongwoo Ltd in Korea and Mann+Hummel created a joint venture in 2002, and in 2008 Mann+Hummel purchased the entire company now called MANN+HUMMEL Dongwoo Co. Ltd.
