  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Driving my 2012 3.8 Premium late yesterday afternoon my interior chime started going off at semi-regular intervals. I then noticed via reflections in the car ahead of me that my headlights were flashing on in time with the chimes.

No idiots lights show on the dash to indicate any sort of problem.

It is more common under acceleration and tends to stop during braking, although it always seems to chime exactly once more just before coming to a full stop. It never chimes while completely stopped; as soon as I accelerate it begins again.

I thought perhaps it was some sort of anti-theft feature as I've been having trouble with my fob (been resorting to the mechanical key and inserting the fob into its slot lately), so I finally replaced the battery. No help.

I'll be calling to schedule a service appointment this morning but I'm curious if anyone else has seen this.

Thanks!

does your car have the park sensors? If it does, it sounds like the harness connectors may be coming loose or have a short. Hopefully the harness is just coming loose.
When i changed my headlight bulbs i took that connector loose and forgot to reconnect it.. The car would chime on start up and flash a few lights then be fine.

No, no parking sensors.

I scheduled the appointment for this morning, but the problem disappeared Friday and hasn't returned. Knowing how difficult it can be to troubleshoot a problem that's not actually presenting, I cancelled the appointment. I assumed it would immediately show as soon as I cancelled, given Murphy's well-known axiom, but so far it hasn't returned.

When it does I'll try to get it in sooner.
