  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

All,
2015 3.8 Ultimate, Manhattan Grey w/black interior. Scratches / scuffs..... has anyone found anything that addresses marks on the interior of these cars? Directly above the navigation screen on my soft touch dashboard is a scuff about an inch long, and it's driving me crazy. I've tried black interior restoration products, clear vinyl products, and nothing seems to get rid of or reduce the visibility of this scuff. I'm contemplating going at it with an art gum eraser, but I also don't want to make the situation worse. I'm open for suggestions. I love the black interior, but it does seem overly willing to show marks anywhere that meets any abrasion, whether it's on the soft or the hard plastic
Thanks,
BigdogBTS

DON’T do it yourself.

Every vehicle dealer employs small private repair/touch-up contractors who work on the dealers’ lots. These somewhat invisible contractors go from dealer to dealer every day of the week fixing problems like you describe on both new and used cars. Usually, they work out of sight in an inconspicuous spot on the dealer lots.

Over the years I’ve had many little interior and exterior repairs done by such contractors. For example, I found a tiny cut in the dashboard of my brand new ‘09 Honda Accord. I let the dealer attempt to fix it using such a contractor. The result was perfect. I’ve also had glove box lid scratches touched up on several cars. Ladies purses were to blame for the scratches. I could go on....

You find these contractors yourself and pay them directly. You can find them by simply driving through the lots of various dealers, or by asking at the dealer service departments. I always look around the BMW, Mercedes, Jag and Lexus lots first. Often they can fix your problem immediately while you look on. They love your instant cash which is tax free and supplements the money they make from the dealers.
