  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just hit 102k in my 2011 4.8... Love the car but since replacing my battery I have had issues where when I attempt to start my car....foot on brake, push button...I get a click and all power is lost...completely. I then open back door, open hatch to trunk area, grab the stick I left inside the trunk and pop the trunk open (glow latch shows well)... I then left the access latch to spare tire and battery, remove the lug nut wrench, tap negative connection to battery and everything lights up....get back in car starts....

What in the &^*% is causing this to happen? I have checked all connectors, plugs, fuses....Really do not want to have to go to the dealer... One note is I got my battery at sears as a replacement and not dealer...all specs matched up fine.

I have checked all connections, tightened everything down and it was fine for 2 weeks...then it happened again. Whenever it happens I unplug and plug the 50A fuse on battery in and presto..fine for a week or so... any ideas out there?

I have the same issue, 2009 3.8. I had to unplug one of the wire in the battery pack and waggles it a bit. I found the wire had loosen tape so I re-taped it. It is the long wire with blue tape on it:file (4).webp

Sounds like a connection or grounding issue. Look for corrosion in the area you are tapping. It may not be visible if it is sandwiched between the metal, nuts, terminal or the like.

It turns out (for me) the positive terminal was not tighten enough. It sometimes got disconnected b/c of that. It is hard to tell by looking at it, it has this fuse boxed connector, you really have to tighten and check again. This actually was also contribute to my couple times while driving on the highway the display all the sudden got all light off and on, the car stall for a second and all the sudden everything came back up. The engine keep running. I know while driving the car does not rely on the battery, but somehow it just act as if the car got reset while driving. After tighten the positive connector, I no longer suffer from this sudden lose of power.
