  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just as an FYI, yesterday when my original, 4 year old battery finally died, while I was searching for a trustworthy replacement, I discovered that the OEM Hyundai battery that the dealer sells is an H8/grp49 Interstate battery. The dealers I called wanted about $215 for the battery. I instead went to a local Interstate battery retailer and picked up the same thing for $190.

My other option was an ACdelco H8 battery for $175. I have one of those in my 550i and it has done well for the past year and a half. Figured I would give the Interstate a try though.

Really? I replaced mine with an AGM from Autozone. Set me back about $180.
DieHard Plat AGM. Thanks for the FYI! :)

Indeed. I called two different dealers from two different towns and they told me the same thing.

What did they tell you? That an Interstate battery was the Genesis OEM?

Not likely unless Interstate has plant in Korea. Nether HMA nor the dealers are going to import a battery from Korea, simply because of the high cost of shipping (batteries are very heavy). It is possible that when a dealer orders a battery from HMA it is an Interstate, but not the exact same one as used at the factory in Korea. But Interstate makes excellent batteries, so there is nothing wrong with using one.

I replaced my 3-year old battery with an Interstate AGM from Sam's Club. It was about $170.
