Do I need to buy a new $1200 FAM unit or...?

My 2012 Genesis hazzard lights randomly come on while driving or parked with ignition off. The hyundai dealer said it was a faulty FAM unit. They wanted to sell me a new one for $1200.00. Nope. I found some used ones on ebay for $40, so I bought 3 just incase one was faulty. Put it and it worked...
