  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Call me Acey, and "How-do-you-do?!" to all of you!

First of all, it was a pleasure to read these forums and to have become familiar with all of your experiences with the Genesis PRIOR to MY making a commitment to a vehicle. So for that, I am grateful to all of you wonderful Genesis posters!

Thank you very much!

Long story short (but, hey, it's my story and I'm sticking to it...

I'm a middle aged, working, sales rep in Florida. Been here for years! I love my job, and I quite liked my previous car. Nothing wrong with that! The weather here has been quite frankly, OVEN hot and steamy since early June, as I'm sure some of you know!

One hot, humid evening after work, while wiping my sweaty brow, I said to my hubby....(in all innocence)

"You know what, darn it, I work hard and I'm not getting any younger....when I swap out this car, I want my next one fully loaded, with everything on it, and that will even have an air-conditioned seat to keep my a** cold!!!

He did some research, we learned Genesis was Car of the year, and we learned what other brands with similar amenities cost...guess I've been in the dark too long...

Once I sat in the Genesis (4.6/tech) it was GAME OVER for me!!!

So, here I am! With a nice, cool butt!!!!

PS: I never thought I'd actually think about, let alone say, what I just did to all of you people out there! ;)

Hope I put this message in the correct location

Nice intro, Acey! Welcome to the forums and congratulations on your purchase.

The Genesis was a surprise to me too. My wife had a Sonata in 04 - it was a nice car, but I certainly didn't expect anything like this to come out of Hyundai. A pleasant surprise for sure. :)

What color combo did you go with?

P.S. The cooled seats are one of my favorite features too. ;)

Acey!

Welcome to GENESISOWNERS...of which you now are!

Personally, I think you made a GREAT decision and you will get the most BANG for the Buck with the Genesis!

Get ready for stares, smiles, and a lot of people asking you what in the world you are driving. Pay special attention to the BMW and MB owners who paid thousands upon ten-thousands more than you for their cars and wish they saved like you did. What is the old tv commercial... "Im in debt up to my eyeballs!!!" HA! Not you though!

Congrats on the new ride and BE PROUD of what you drive!

Matt

I know I have made a couple of posts, but am still relatively new here. I did tons of research for the last 6-8 months and decided on the Genesis. I posted in another section that I ended up getting mine (3.8 Tech, Titanium Gray, Black Interior, now it has 15% tint) last Friday. So far so good, but I'm really looking forward to fully seeing what the V6 can do because I'm trying to hold back for the first 600 or so miles like the manual says (don't rev the engine).

Anyway, welcome to the club, and I'm proud to be one of the "elite" now.

Welcome aboard, Acey! Thank you for signing up and congratulations on your new Hyundai Genesis!

StudyAid.. You live a few miles away from me.. Welcome. :)

Welcome aboard Acey! Which color combo did you go with?

Welcome to the board!! I have a black v8 tech. The members here are really good! I've posted a couple questions and I've gotten help pretty quick!

As to My Color Combo:

White with the light tan interior (Sorry, I don't recall the actual names!)

Chosen for pure reflectivity of Florida's sunshine rays.

Cool Car, Cool Butt, COOL CAR to be sure

......coming up on 1,000 miles and....

get this.....I'm now thinking outside of the box, (don't you just despise that term now?), but enjoying all the features,

AND... have had more enjoyment / education ......

using the XM to relax while piloting this fine vehicle .....

by selecting classical, jazz, foreign language news.....(anything But what I've always chosen)

OH, BUT I DIGRESS.....

Those lovely visors that extend on their own arms is the "piece de resistence", IMHO!!!

From,

ACEY:D

Acey nice to hear you enjoy piloting your new Genny. Can you tell me what were some of the qualities that drew you to the Genesis? and what was the topper that was the deal maker for you?

By the way, if you get a chance can you post up some pics of your sleek Gen?:)

Welcome and it's a pleasure to have you in the forum. It's nice to know that there are ladies on the forum. (At least you are the first I KNEW was a lady.)

PS: I love your sense of humor. :D

Carbunt: Qualities about the Genesis and what was the topper, you ask?

First, this whole thing happened when I complained of being so darn hot to my hubby. He suggested that since my car was out of warranty anyway, I might as well shop for a new car. Sure, fine. Days later, I went with a friend to help her buy a terrific, used MB, but Geeze-Louise, 40+ grand for used? (did I mention I've been out of the car-buying loop?) Days later still, hubby mentions DTS, Lexus, Infiniti. I just can't get psyched up about any of them. WHY? I'm not a label person, and get more kicks from understated values.

Then he casually mentions take a look at the Genesis... (the who?)

So I did. Sat in it and:

Quality:
Q1) it fit me (I'm tall and <ahem> broad)
Q2) Nicely appointed, I liked the arced console
Q3) Intuitive knobs from 1st glance
Q4) Joystick felt easy, again intuitive.
Q5) Big screen

TOPPERS:
Q6) Features: rev camera, park assist, back sun screen!!!, easy EXIT!!!
Q7th Heaven: AC seat! Ultimate Godsend? Price!

I thought, if it drives as nice as it "feels" to me, I'm in. So I kept my mouth shut, didn't elaborate my pounding heart, and got me a good deal. I'm leasing, BTW! And will enjoy swapping it out for a '12 model when the time comes!

Hey there, Sterling Dave!

I'll be out in Centennial visiting friends next week! I'm leaving the Genny in the garage this time, and flapping my wings (not the Genny's) to get there!!! :)

Acey, thank you for your very constructive narrative. I will be looking for these qualities as well, when I'm ready in 2010.

So, when you can, post up 'em pics of your new Genny! :)

Hi Acey,

It's nice to have another satisfied and happy consumer aboard.
I'm glad to hear that you are really enjoying the new car.

Take care,

Welcome to Colorado, Acey. It will be a little cool here this week; you might want to bring your sweater. :welcome:

Never needed the sweater! Enjoyed visiting Bud's Clydesdales (outside of Denver??) and !!! what a surprise!!! an outdoor concert featuring Hermit's Hermits.....whoda thunk! Your state is thoroughly enjoyable, SterlingDave!

But I digress, this is Genesis forum...still a great car, and today I got a license plate frame from Hyundai (great marketing program) "North American Car of the Year" so I can wink, wink, at the BMW's behind me !

Nice to hear from you again. Were you able to post any pics of your Genny?
