  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi everyone!

I always hate doing the introduction thing, but I'm Matt, from California (East Bay Area), and I'm seriously considering the Genesis for my next vehicle, but wanted to get a little more info. A bit of Googling brought me here.

Big thanks to Sal for this forum, and for getting my registration stuff sorted out!

Welcome aboard. You'll find a wealth of information here. IMO I think people will give you an honest opinion on the Genesis just keep in mind that everything is subjective so drive one or two, V8 and 6, and form your own opinions.

I see you made it!

Welcome! Im sure you will be purchasing the Genesis before you know it! :)

Hey guys, thanks for the welcome!

I'm basically at the 90% point in terms of having made up my mind, and I'm really glad to have found this forum!

Bienvenidos. You're at 90% to purchase/lease which vehicle may I ask, please be specific, colors, trim, etc.

At this point I am looking to purchase a 4.6 Tech, black on black (probably, I could have a change of heart on the exterior color) sometime towards the end of the year (November I would guess).

Because of the timeframe, the availability of the 2010, or other similar factors could sway me to hold off a bit, or possibly move a bit earlier, but at this point, given everything that is out there, I don't see myself looking towards much else.

I have been wanting a large, powerful sedan for a while now, but have always been a bit turned off by most American sedans for one reason or another (usually the interior), and turned off by other large powerful sedans by the price. I had been reluctantly thinking that I would look in the direction of used (off lease, etc.) cars from BMW/Mercedes/Lexus, but then I heard about the Genesis, and it really grabbed my attention. On paper, and from what I could determine by taking it for a test drive, it is as if someone set out to build the car that I had been looking for (well, minus the missile launcher).

Probable finishing touches on mine would include Genesis badges all around and tasteful tinting (ceramic). I can't really think of anything else that the car needs beyond that!

As you can probably tell from the posts here, the only real reoccurring issue with this car is its perceived rough ride. More specifically the back end of the car tends to bounce around on uneven city streets (not an issue on highways). It is a non issue for some and others find it to be miserable. My interpretation of it has come down to a matter of taste. If you are a BMW Infiniti type guy, you will love this car. If you are a Mercedes Audi Acura guy, it may or may not bother you. If you are a Lexus lover this car will piss you off.
I like Bimmers and I like to feel the road, and I understand that I'm riding on 18 inch 50 series tires that are geared more towards performance than comfort. People with the 17 inch tires on the V6 have complained a lot less about the ride. Of course the car looks and feels softer with those shoes. Other than the ride (subjective), the rest of the car is freaking awesome.

I definitely lean towards the more responsive ride myself. I took V8 Tech on a test drive, and the ride was great. I pushed it around a little bit, and if I were looking for things to complain about, I might say that I saw more body roll in high speed cornering than I would like, but that complaint would be right up there with the complaint about the car not doing my laundry, or making me dinner.

Nice way to keep it in perspective. This is a massive car. The body roll is there no doubt, but it's nothing compared to any front wheel driver, a Lexus LS and most cars of this size. This aint no 3 series.

Exactly. I'm looking for a big car, and prior to discovering the Genesis I was afraid that I was going to have to settle for a mid size to get the features that I wanted at a price I didn't feel irresponsible about.

I keep looking for things to dislike about the car, to be mentally prepared for price negotiation if nothing else, and I have a really hard time coming up with anything. Certainly nothing at the price point of the car.
