Inventory Anecdote

I make a virtual check of my two local Genesis dealers occasionally to see what is happening on their property and I notice that they both have a dramatic decrease in inventory of Genesis G70 from last Fall through Spring. G80 and G90 were always many fewer than G70 so the reduction there is not as dramatic. No 2019 remain at either. Just a single data point and I wonder why the commitment has lagged.

They have some '21 models. The decline is ~65% from last Fall to Spring.

Mine has five G70s and two G80s. No G90s. That totals the largest amount they've ever had in inventory at any one time. Usually, they have about three G70s. Bear in mind, this is one of three dealerships within a 20 mile radius (that's 40 miles diameter) containing a population of 2.2 million people.

Among the lux brands, Genesis has one of the higher inventory levels, but not as high as for, say, Cadillac.

Doubt it's the (old) G80 which has been out of production for months or the low volume G90, so the likely problem child is the G70.
