  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey all, I have a 2012 R-spec sedan and when I plug in my Iphone 5 or Ipad through the USB port it just flickers and buzzes continuously. I am new to this site and did some searches but all were old threads. thought I would see if anything has recently changed. thanks.

You have to use the Hyundai 30-pin cable along with the Apple Lightning-to-30-pin adapter cable to charge. It will not charge with the Apple lightning use cable.

I'm not sure how it works for Apple stuff (I have an Android phone) bur with my phone I find the USB in the globe box is only really for data transfer and no so much for charging.

If I hook my phone up via USB it will charge but it will charge very slowly, and if I use navigation with my phones screen on, the battery will still drain when plugged in, it just drains far slower than normal. It seems the output of the built in USB is about .25Ah while my regular charger (that goes in the cigarette lighter) is 2.1Ah, so it outputs about 1/8 the amount of juice as my regular charger.

Does this propriety adapter change that and boost the charging connection for large phones and tablets, like the Ipad that charge at 2+amps?

I believe that the USB plug is a standard specification 1 amp USB port.

Most new phones/tablets are 2+ amp now. You can still charge them with chargers that output fewer amps but they will charge really slow, and if you use the device when it is plugged in it can drain the battery.
