  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

When I saw the this thread (http://www.genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=5749) on the Free Navigation software update, I was all over that one and was thrilled when I saw my car was in the time period specified to quality.

It took all day to get my car back but I had the wife's car and really didn't care (she was pissed, but that's another story) so when I got my Genesis back, sure enough it had the April 2010 date on the info screen. I expected it to reset the phone book setting but pretty much everything was reset including the default state (I'm in Florida and the default is Michigan) and all the sound settings. All except bluetooth, go figure.

Anyway I needed to redo the speaker settings since I don't care for the factory default with most of the sound centered up front and I happen to notice something new in the Settings menu. Random Settings. What the hell is Random Settings? I select it and I see 3 additional settings: Off, Random Songs, Random Albums.

Could it be Hyundai included the ability to random play on the ipod through the navigation controls? After I finished starring in disbelief for awhile, I said I better try this just to make sure I'm not hallucinating. Well I'll be damned if it didn't work. Even shows the random play symbol. On top of that it shows the name of the song with the Artist which it didn't do before.

Maybe I'm too over excited about this little feature but I'm glad they did it and it turned out to be a nice little surprise. :D

Attached are some shots.

For what it's worth, my 2010 4.6 w/Tech came with this option. It's kinda crappy, though. You can't change playlists with it selected, and the random algorithm seems... weak. It also resets any time you change the input, and pausing is a pain in the rear - you have to jog the dial right, THEN click pause to pause it. You can't just push down on the dial to pause.

Great. Curious- did they have your car on a battery charger or did they run the engine for 4 hours? Wondering if you noticed the gas gauge less than the fill point when you dropped it off.

I have the 2010 4.6 V8 w/Tech build date Feb. 18,2010 but I do not see this option. When I enquired about the map update the dealer said they ran my VIN and there is no map update and no TSB for a map up date for my car.

I have this in my 2010 V8 w Tech package. It is nice but I agree with Capo that it needs some adjustments. Beyond resetting the shuffle feature every time you turn on the car, you can't browse to another song and turning on shuffle while playing immediately interrupts the song and skips to a new one

If you're in shuffle can you advance to the next shuffled song by pushing the arrow on the steering wheel? If so, cool.
But then I don't understand the problem.

yes, you can hit the button on the steering wheel and advance to the next song. But if you want to start shuffle at a certain song (i.e. shuffle the playlist beginning with song A) you can't do it
