  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just picked up a 2010 Genesis 3.8 with the "premium nav" package. The manual lists the various IPODs that are compatible, but doesn't include the latest version (3G). I'd guess the 3G would work just fine, but before I buy one has anyone used a 3G with their Genesis? Thanks for your help.

I have an 16G IPod Touch, not sure about the 3G, but was purchased in August.

This Ipod worked fine in my car, a 2009 4.6 Tech until (i) they installed a new head unit last week and (ii) about the same time, I updated the IPod software. Now my IPod and car do not play well together. I get music, but I cannot scroll through the playlists, artists or songs. Podcasts are ok.

I had the Apple Store check my Ipod out and it was fine. I thought it was the addition of the Genius Mix in the new software, but deleted it and still does not work properly.

I still do not know if it is the latest software on the Ipod or the software in the new head unit that is causing the incompatibility. I traded it to my daughter for her 8G Nano that works fine in the car.

Can you not scroll through menus on the iPod or on the new radio, when the iPod is plugged in?

I have a 3G that works in my non-Tech car, and also a number of older iPods I've used, and all work, albeit differently, with the radio, fwiw.

I only get the first page of the menu and cannot "click" to the next one. In addition it takes about five seconds for the pages to appear once selected, i.e artists, songes, etc. I also can select artists and it goes to songs. Weird. The Nano works fine.

I have several iPods and worked okay with my baby.
Currently, i carry the iPod Touch 3rd gen 64GB and works with Genesis.

The menu on the iPod or the car?

Try to limit the number of playlists on your iPod Touch to no more than about 30-40 maximum and you'll see much better response time from the DIS. My guess is that the data buffer just can't handle more than that before timing out. If you have much more than that you may want to consolidate individual playlists to Smart Playlists (i.e., ones that contain many other playlists).

I have a 120 GB iPod Classic and have encountered the scenario you're describing. The device storage capacity doesn't seem to be an issue, only the quantity of playlist/album/artist objects you're syncing from iTunes.

I'm sure it's a bug that will be fixed...ehem...soon.

Warp08,

Thanks for the advice, but I do not use playlists. I would just scroll through the artists or albums to listen to what I want. Maybe I should get my iPod Touch back from my daughter and try accessing through playlists. The podcasts worked fine. What is so frustrating is that it used to work as designed.

The Apple Store said it was ok and when I tried a new cable and in a new V8 Tech Genesis on the dealer's lot, it still would not let me scroll through the artists and albums, only the first page of each. Plus it was very s..l..o..w when manuevering between menus.
