  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I honestly love the look of the new Camaro, I've always liked American Muscle cars and am a HUGE fan of the (somewhat) new Dodge Challengers. So I've been following the release of the new Camaro to a degree as well and the 2010 Ford Mustang. Naturally I'm going to check out the manufacturer's page on the car.

http://www.chevrolet.com/allnewcamaro/

Now on Chevrolet's site you can compare the new Camaro to other cars, one of these being the Genesis Coupe.

"Really? What could they use to compare Camaro to my Genny?" I say, in my mind, I didn't realize they were directly comparable. The always seemed like 2 very different animals to me, but I am now intrigued so I click.

First thing I see

MORE HORSEPOWER

"What? Wait..." says the slightly informed consumer in me, that doesn't sound right.

ROLL OVER HERE FOR IMPORTANT LEGAL INFORMATION

Lay it on me Chevy, I'll bite.

1. Camaro With 3.6L V6 has 304 Horsepower vs. Hyundai Genesis 2.0 Coupe with 210 Horsepower

WHAT THE *$#^ CHEVY!?

You're really that self conscious the the v6 coupe has more HP than your precious muscle car that you pick on the smaller engine? That's like going to a ball game and instead of punching the guy who can punch you back you punch his kid... WTF Chevy... WTF...

*Chevy loses 80 awesome points*

Hahahaha yeah that's pretty funny. But technically they are comparing "Base" model to "Base" model. Not engine to engine.

also one thing. When the freak is this thing coming out?

Pick up a copy of the May '09 issue of Motor Trend. Read Angus Mackenzie's column, "Running Scared". Seems Ford would only give Motor Trend a 2010 Mustang to test if they agreed NOT to do a comparison test between it and the Genesis Coupe.

Apparently, Hyundai and it's Genesi are making many manufacturers shake in their boots. Too bad!

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
The base Camaro and the base Genesis coupe are very close in sticker price so I think they are comparing apples to apples.

Interesting enough, Hyundai has hired GM's former design manager for Hyundai US design team. So, I guess you might want to get used to it if you like Hyundais. haha

The Chevy will soon be selling at a discount (I'm guessing a a deep one), so MSRP comparisons are almost worthless. As with the Genesis Coupe, the new/gotta have it element will fade; the "street price" will determine which is the performance value. Resale will also be an interesting element in this comparison, but only time will tell on that side...

Ha ha ha ha!!! I agree on both sides of this blog to a point. The 2 cars do not compete in aesthetics. But camaro is trying to say they were lookin 4 handling performance in the G37 range while it was still a concept. Having test driven the genesis coupe and thoroughly inspecting the camaro v6. The camaro is not as technologically advanced except in the engine. Its 3.6 is the best engine in its class. But the genesis coupe taxes it in other places once you get to $30k on both cars. GC has toesen LSD, camaro locking from the 70's. Gc has zf 6 speed tranny's camaro has good but lower end aisin, 245w Boston acoustics stereo on camaro, 360w infinty on gc. Standard leather on gc. Package on camaro. Rs package necessary for better performance. Tho it can be had at a lower cost than the gc v6 track. It doesn't have 75% of the cabin features in the 25k base gc. Handling is close with gc having a very mild edge. 0-60 on the gc has varied from 5.4 to 5.8 but camaro v6 has varied from 5.9 to 6.2. They tie in the quarter so high end torque is a winner in camaro. But at the end of the day I still believe these are 2 different cars. I gotta say one thing though. All the muscle car interiors are shamefully disgustingly cheap looking. And its terrible that even when people are paying as high as 50k for performance packages. There interiors look like 1988 instead 2009. American interiors need to grow up. I give hyundai respect for interior design. Some criticise some cheap plastic parts areas in the hyundai. But its still done strategically and tastefully giving the car a near luxury sport feel in spite of. And with malibu cobalt and a few other autos getting at least adequate to excellent interiors. There is no excuse for the attrosity of an interior of the camaro. Especially when the concept was so beautiful. Last thing, (sorry) the public waited nearly 4 years for the camaro. To end up with that level of interior I feel was a slap in the face to enthusiasts and the American buying public. USA get in the game already! I would like to buy American one day? And not trade it in a year like I did with the 06 Chevy Monte Carlo.

Remember when the '05 Mustang came out? Forget discounts. The Camaro will be $10K+ over sticker for a year and sticker for a year after that. You won't see any rebates or discounts on Camaro's until the '13 model year.

Negative. I don't know about the 1st and 2nd gens, but 3rd and 4th gen F-Body's have all used clutch type LSD'd. The same type that's being used in the 5th gen. Not a "70's" locker.

245w Boston acoustics stereo on camaro, 360w infinty on gc.

As someone who's owned both Boston and Infinity OEM and aftermarket equipment, I can tell you that the Boston stuff sounds better than Infinity.

Standard leather on gc. Package on camaro.

Some of us don't want leather. I view it as a downgrade from cloth. Here in Vegas, where it's 115 degrees in Summer and 40 degrees in Winter, cloth is far better. One of the many reasons I've been looking for a 2.0T Track but wouldn't even consider a V6. I don't want leather.

Rs package necessary for better performance. Tho it can be had at a lower cost than the gc v6 track.

"RS" is an appearance package. It has NO performance parts. The performance parts are standard.

It doesn't have 75% of the cabin features in the 25k base gc.

If you're gonna make a statement like that, you're gonna have to back it up with specifics.

Handling is close with gc having a very mild edge.

Not according to Ed Loh at Motor Trend. The Camaro handled better when the road got twisty:
