  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello,

I'm not sure if I have malfunction in EPB or not but I can switch on EPB by pressing EPB button when car is in P and engine is running but second press of a button does not remove EPB regardless how many times I press it.
Also is EPB supposed to turn on on first press of a button or it takes several time for light to come up after pressing EPB button?
Issue is that my EPB become activated without me doing anything couple of weeks ago and dashboard was not illuminated telling me that it's on. Car was dragging, I brought it to local car mechanic and he told me by EPB is on even though I did not activate it. So toggled switch several times to release it. I brought it to dealership but issue was not reproducible they told me next time it happens to drive less then 50 miles so they can read error code. Interesting this is that there is recall (https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RCMN-17V359-3928.pdf) which affects Genesis 2015 with exact same issue but my VIN is not showing up as affected.

You pull the EPB to engage, not press.

Disengagement requires firmly pressing brake, shift out of Park, then push the button if it hasn't automatically disengaged.

The system takes a few seconds to engage/disengage. It also engages automatically if you shift to Park with Auto Hold turned on.

So if I have auto hold on and come to complete stop, put car into P, release break pedal EPB supposed to light up at that point?

Parking brake automatically locked
If the EPB is applied while Auto Hold
is activated, a warning will sound and
a message will appear.

yes this is how it should work. if you are using auto hold, putting car in park the EPB should engage, it can take several seconds to do so.

if you are not using auto-hold, then you need to PULL the EPB lever toward you to engage, and push away to disengage.

if engaged it should auto disengage when you move out of park to Reverse or Drive, regardless of how it was set (auto or manually)
