  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I hope to pick up my new Genesis on Saturday and need to add a Valentine One. Usually, I pick a 12v source from the overhead lighting and run a wire through the headliner, sticking out at the top of the windshield.
IF the Genesis has multiplexed electronics, then adding anything electrical would probably schweckle the signals sent along the multiplex line.
IF the Genesis is hard wired with point to point wiring, as are most cars, then no problem.
C'mon guys! What do you think?

I just plug mine into the power plug (cigarette lighter) and place on the dash.

I would rather place above the rear view mirror, however because of the small black dots on the inside of the windshield, the suction cups won't stick there. On my Continental, I have it up above the rear view mirror, with the power in the power plug.

Good luck on your request.

A quick Google search reveals that (as expected) it is a radar detector. However, I was a bit thrown off at first since Valentine's Day is only a few weeks away...

Yo grtday -- this topic has been covered extensively -- up to and including DIY install instructions. Just search for "Valentine" or "hard wired". It took me <30 minutes to hard wire my Valentine.

But I'm wondering about the electrical on the Genesis....
I've hard-wired the V1 on many vehicles and that is the way to go. No ugly cords hanging down!
Did someone really not know what a Valentine One was?

Why would someone who has no interest in radar detectors know what it is?

I had no idea what a Valentine One was. Now that I've found out, I have no interest in adding the info to the "saved" section of my brain.

There are lots of us out here who have absolutely no interest in or need for a radar detector. Honest!
