  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

As a Lexus NX owner, I have been very happy overall with Lexus reliability and exceptional customer service when my car goes in for service. Even when I have been on the road and needed something (always minor problems) they excelled at customer service. The Lexus dealerships are fantastic and well run. I can feel the luxury brand when I use them. I pulled the trigger on a Genesis GV70 yesterday after reading stellar reviews and test driving one. I am now having second thoughts. The car is gorgeous and offers way more than a Lexus for the same price.

BUT, when I made my way to the deanship via GPS I arrived at a Hyundai dealer. I walked in and all the signage, inside and out, was for Hyundai. I asked where the Genesis dealer was and they said I was where I was supposed to be after pointing to a cardboard placard spelling out the reasons to buy a Genesis. In any event, I told the sales person what I wanted and that I was ready to buy the GV70, if it was all I had heard it was, after a test drive. They pulled up a disgustingly dirty car with plastic covering the interior. That was my test drive vehicle.

The second vehicle they showed me (different trim) was the same. I loved the drive and really liked the car but had to see a customer car in the lot for service to see what the color looked like without all the dirt on it. I still pulled the trigger and pick up my GV70 next week. I then realized that I was going to be taking my car in for service to the Hyundai dealer that does not even wash the cars they are trying to sell and looked at the service reviews. They were not good. I am worried that, while the car is great, my experience overall with Genesis will not be good.

The cars seem to be hitting it out of the park but the showrooms/service really seem to be lacking. I tried to call Genesis to find out where the closest stand alone service center may be or when a close one would be expected and became even more concerned. The customer service number on their website is defunct. After 2 tries I finally found a number by googling and spoke to a rude individual that said Genesis has no idea what dealers will build stand alone facilities and which will not. I am having serious second thoughts here. It does not sound like the Lexus experience.

What good is purchasing a luxury car if the service and customer service are terrible? Please talk me off the ledge...or tell me to run if you have had similar experiences. Maybe they are just not ready for the big leagues of the luxury car market?

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Run from that dealer! The vehicles are outstanding the dealer network is not.

The experience you had is all too common among Genesis retailers. (search JD Power survey results since 2017. 2022 Sales and 2023 Service survey results are below).

Also see the attached thread link with the list of 8 freestanding Genesis dealers in the continental U.S., perhaps one is not too distant from you and worth evaluation. Freestanding Genesis Dedicated Stores
