  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I love my genesis 4.6L. It's a great car that I got a great deal on brand new. My only real complaint about it is road noise. Even after new tires and having the alignments checked, it's still much noisier than some of the lexus and bmw's I test drove. I wonder if hyundai considers this a problem or if I'm just being too picky?

what year genesis do you have and which tires have you tried?
from my experience so far (at 1000 miles), my genesis is as quiet as the 2008 lexus es 350 and 2011 BMW 5 series.
i don't think there are any other cars that are significantly more quiet than the genesis.

2012 Genesis 3.8. Mine is just as quiet as the Mercedes E class I had and much quieter than ourAcura TL

So is the road noise worse than the Genesis you test drove before purchase?

about the same. Like I said, I really like the car, it's just noisy inside the cabin. I have the 2009 though so I wonder if they made it a lot better in upcoming years. I'm planning to go test drive a 2012 r spec soon as my local dealer has one with an eye towards moving to it from my current genesis.

Can't agree with you.

My '09 V8 (traded up from an '09 V6) is very quiet. Lexus-like quiet.

My 2009 is probably the quietest car I've ever owned and that includes a number of BMW's, a Lexus 400 and an Audi A6. The roadnoise got to be more noticeable when the OEM Dunlops were nearing the end, but with new Conti DWS all is calm and quiet again.

You were asked, but did not say what tires you have. The OEM Dunlops are not the best in that regard.

My 2010 with the original Dunlops is almost as quiet as my old Lexus LS430. Perfectly acceptable for me.
