  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Is it a proof of g70's trasmission malfunction or driver's fault?

I don't think the 2019 (and 2020?) do this, right? I tried a quick test on mine and it didn't go into park when I opened the door backing up. I agree, I prefer that it doesn't.

Good safety feature that it does, but a manual override would be handy.

Yeah, I'd hate to be stuck because of a bad door ajar switch.

I knew how to drive 3 speed on column and 4 on the floor.
The 3-sp on the column I drove in my youth was pull then up for R. Pull then down for 1st, push and up for 2nd, and push and down for 3rd. I read there were FOUR on the column, but never saw or drove one of those. There also were 3 on the floor, with left up for R. Four on the floor has many iterations possible, especially R.

Has nobody mentioned the G70 function where in drive or reverse if you open your door it throws itself into park?
Yeah, both my '22 SF Calligraphy and '23 G70 do that the first time (don't remember if P or N), just in case you screwed up accidentally, I guess. Ha ha. But the 2nd time you try, it stays in R, and you can reverse with the door open, albeit squawking like crazy. Ha ha. Hope this helps.

What I don't like about the G70 is I CANNOT put it in R with just the ignition on. You have to turn the freaking engine on. Any way to do that without the emergency keyhole method (which I've never tried)? With the SF Calligraphy, I just hit the N button, and it goes to N. Tried everything with the G70, and no dice. Would be great to hear of a trick to do that:). And how about to activate power steering with just ignition on? Thank you.
