  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Okay I am seeing quit a bit of discussion regarding engine won't start. Is it really the starter or safety neutral switch? Randomly won't start. To make it work. Push start button to ON, shift from P to D and back to P while having foot on brake. Then press start push button and it automatically starts. If it was an starter, would it not start? Should I even go through replacing the starter or start with safety neutral switch or just starter?

To guess is expensive. Sure, starters are mechanical and can go bad, but the circuit that goes from the push of a button to finally turning the motor has other equipment involved.

Did you try the P to D method? Did it work? If yes, it would not be the starter. If no, you need a better diagnosis.

IMO, the cheapest fix is to have someone that knows the system do check it out and fix what is found. Dealer or a good Indy would work. I'd guess a starter would be $500+ and may not be the problem.

The P to D works. Just trying to get a idea if it's one of the listed is the main issue as I've seen couple discussions fixing starter fix it.
