  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Is it worth buying DVD-Audio format DVDs to play in the Lexicon on my 2011 4.6?

Hi,
I was curious about how good these sound. I know its obsolete tech and there is limited catalog but I was curious if it was worth buying them just to fully utilize the stereo?

I play MP3 through the AUX port mostly now for comparison of varying quality some 320 and mostly 192 and it sounds great but I suspect it is leaving a lot on the table for what the stereo could deliver.

Also can it play Blu-ray Audio ?

We always used a 16 gig micro usb in the console compartment usb outlet . Music was sorted in folders and recorded at 320k mp3.

Absolutely. Provided you can find them.

The clarity of the highs with the A-pillar mounted tweeters was a marvel. MP3s dumb down so much of the high-freq range of audio, they take a lot away from the imaging and purity of the sound. If you have an audiophile's ear, you know this. If not, then don't bother with DVD-A's and stick to mp3s.

The Gen 0.5 tech-trim Lexicon 17 speaker system is by far the best audio system I've heard in a car, and likely will ever be.

It was a true gem, and DVD-A's really made it shine.

Agreed it was the best sound I've heard since then in my 2015 Genesis.
I still have about 4 disks I can play in my computer with special software but will never get the sound I did in my car.
My present car has no DVD player I'm curious if the new G80's have them.

Personally I'd skip it. Unless you can't live without classical music in that format.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I will try getting one for fun. I am curious for sure now.
I like a lot of classic rock so I think I should be able to find something.
I think I will also try the micro USB also.

The stereo really is nice. I was just listened to a Jack Johnson song and for the first time I realized there was the sound of rain in the background in the song that I never noticed in years of listening to it on any other stereo.

The Genesis is so quiet inside and the stereo so clear. It really is a comfortable place to be.
