  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello my 2010 Hyundai genesis 4.6 gave (170k) me codes P0449 & P0496 & P2187. The car always has issues starting after fueling which led me to fuel without turning the car off to avoid being stranded. Now the car won’t turn over at all, accessory still works and no check engine light. I already replaced the purge valve I the engine but didn’t realize there was another in the trunks evap canister. Is my gas pump now ruined? Any help is appreciated.

Was your fuel pump ruined? I just replaced my Evap in my trunk along with the air filter (but did not do the charcoal canister, yet) due to P0449. Same symptom of hard-to-start after fueling has tempted me to also leave the car running while fueling up, but also wondered if that would damage the fuel pump. The canister replacement seems like such a PITA. The one bolt behind the axle is tough. I assume the whole thing is fished out from the top once the bolts are out, but there nothing online that confirms that.

Hard start and/or rough idle after fueling is typically the purge valve (engine compartment). It's easy enough to check with a pair of pliers and a 10mm. If you can blow or suck air through it, it's bad. Plenty of youtube vids for how to DIY.
