  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So this guide mentioned a steer mode for the lane keeping a while back and apparently you enable it through the engineering mode. Is this real or is this just pre departure mode/active lka? If it’s real, how do you enable it?

It doesn't "add" a feature, you would already have to have pre-departure turned on in LKAS. SteerMode seems to increase the aggressiveness (how sharp of a turn it will remain engaged) of the lane following system, but that's all. It doesn't give you the ability to drive hands off or anything.

Thanks for the reply! So I’m still confused. So is steer mode just pre departure mode? How do you enable steer mode (I have the tech package with the 8 inch screen without the jog wheel)? I want to try it just for fun. And what exactly does it do? Will it keep you more at the center of the lane?

Not an Ultimate, so you don't have the button.

It just lets LKAS turn sharper to stay in the lane. Not really useful beyond sweeping interstate turns that are well marked. It has no effect on normal LKAS operation.

I think it's simply a CAN announce flag that the radio pushes out over the instrument control network. It's possible if reverse engineered to do it with any LKAS equipped vehicle, but honestly just easier to install Comma.AI and ditch the entire LKAS system the car uses.
