  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

How reliable is the G70 and since I hate Rattles (I had a bad experience with a Lexus GS350), are rattles a problem with the G70?

In models with a sunroof, some yes some no. Overall reliability? It’s a new car but you can make some assumptions off shared parts with other cars like the 3.3 engine and transmission

It's a good question. Like @joschneider said, some people with sunroofs do have some weird crackling or rattling noises similar to what the Stinger crowd has. That said, I think there are much more who have no creaks or rattles whatsoever even with the sunroof.

As far as reliability is concerned, so far pretty much all members on the forum have had good reliability with the 3.3 engine. The 2.0, on the other hand, has had a couple people have weird problems with the Idle Stop and Go feature. The good thing is that Genesis has a really long warranty (10 year powertrain), so you don't have to stress too much about things going wrong.

Considering the above, I think so far the G70 is proving to be pretty solid. But, if you're concerned about the rattles, ask to test drive the exact car you want to buy and take it for as long as they'll let you, just to be totally sure there are no weird sounds. I'm almost at 5k miles and I've never heard any creaks, rattles, or pops - just a super solid and refined ride through and through.

Bad thing about car rattles (we all hate them)....they can be totally weather dependent in any vehicle. Test drive it in the summer, it may be quiet as a mouse. Hop in it in winter and it may sound like you're hauling a box of Legos.
