  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Is the Genesis for me? If yes, which one?

won't get there, wife doesn't have 11 left in her.

No, there are no traffic laws in S. fl. I think Miami is the only city they'll stop you for using your turn signals, they don't understand the concept. How can you drive, text, eat and use turn signals all at the same time. If only there was an app I could zap people's phones when I see them driving with one hand and texting with the other. Ho hum such is life.

I moved from upstate NY to South Florida and must say I am shocked at the stupidity here especially at the government level. Although distracted drivers kill more people than drunk drivers, texting while driving is legal. Motorcycle riders are not required to wear helmets. Seat belts were not required until they became a federal law. Florida did not expand Medicaid even though we were paying into the system. We elected a governor who was indicted on Medicare fraud. The sugar industry is allowed to burn the plant stalks instead of plowing them into the ground. Many evenings I can't get out of the house due to smoke. If you signal when turning it means you moved to Florida from another sane state. Cars do not require yearly inspections. You can ride on bald tires and hydroplane during the first bad rain storm. This is just for starters and I would not bore you with more details.

How true silberma. Further south probably only about half have insurance. They make their first $25 down payment then never make another one until the state finally gets around finding them, then they just start the process again. That's why I have to pay almost $2400 a year to insure the Genesis.

Wow, double what I pay in CT and i though we were high Unless you are 17 years old.
I'm in Florida right now and considering a move. maybe not.

I guess my joke was for the younger crowd lol I only say that because all channels and pages on various social media sites say they are in Mexico when racing, speeding, etc. which, by law, the U.S cannot interfere or site them. It's only a precaution we use to avoid the cops with a bit of humor added

Not racing, just having a little fun in the flatlands. Can't wait to hit the Blue Ridge this summer and give the paddle shifters a workout.

Did it 3 times going to/coming from Big Bend the last time I visited. There is mile after mile of straight nothing out there...

Atta, boy. I'm sure it's a night and day difference with the V8.

I was wondering what everyone is seeing gas mileage wise. On paper, the 3.8 gets much better gas mileage, but that seems to be mostly on highway.

I will be driving in Bay Area traffic, so am not sure how much worse the V8 really is. In addition, it makes me ask if the V8 only really shines during higher speed passing maneuvers, or is the acceleration off the line disticntly better? If its only higher speeds, I can't really explain getting the V8.

There is a recent thread about fuel mileage that may answer your questions. Consensus seems to be around the city it sucks but decent on the highway. City is 10 to 12, highway 25 to 27, mix is low 20's. Of course, YMMV

I'm getting 15 to 16.7 in stop and go traffic short distance drives. Highest I've seen was about 19 in city without much stop and go. High way best was about 27, on my 3.8 awd.

I’ve been averaging with my V8 between 17.3 to 20.6 (per my Fuelly app) on my last dozen fill-ups. This is driving 40% freeway commute (Bay Area traffic) and 60% stop-n-go around town. On longer drives, (I-5 to LA), I’ll get more in the 25-27mpg range; eco setting.

It seems that the 3.8 has enough power for most people, passing power is reasonable, acceleration from stop is good. I used to drive a 5.0 Mustang GT (years ago), and this 3.8 clearly has plenty more power than that one did (but in a heavier vehicle of course).

2015 3.8 Ultimate. This is the mileage I've seen over the last year or so. Directly from my tracking spreadsheet. Average across my entire ownership period it is 15.6 mpg.

I'm only seeing one tank over 20mpg... Are you 150% city driving or nail it from lights/stop signs? In the nicest way possible, that is unbelievably low and I would see a car if it was that far off from combined MPG.

That looks about normal for short city drives with stop and go. Is yours AWD?

I just came back from a 3500 mile trip that included some city, some getting stuck in heavy traffic, highway speeds 75 - 80 mph. Came in at 24.3.
3.8 AWD I'm satisfied with that.
