  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just got a new 3.8 genesis sedan premium package and on the 2nd day am averaging 34 miles per gallon on interstate when there was not much traffic (I reset just before I got on the highway and after driving 50 miles at 65 miles per hour). Then in downtown it was stop and go for 4 miles and it dropped down to 30 miles per gallon and stayed that way. I was pleasantly surprised but I am now beginning to suspect that this is not accurate. I will calculate the true miles per gallon when the tank empties. However I did drive another genesis 3.8 premium for 3 days and it was averaging 22 with 40% local 60% high way the first two days. I wanted to wait for the hybrid lexus es300 but couldnt wait for that long. I am glad that the genesis is giving me good mileage though.

I average a combined HWY STREET mileage of 25.9 with my 4.6 sedan. of course the exhaust and intake help open up restriction - i can get a few more mpg if i use premium......

calculate it...simple answer to your question

The MPG on the dash is over by just under 2 MPG, I have measured it with fill up and mileage several times. I had two 2011 Sonatas they both were just about 2 MPG over true mileage.

I agree the mileage on the car is high by about 1-2 mpg. On a related note the speedo is LOW by about 2 mph.
