  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Is there a list of bluetooth compatible phones for the Gen or will most any one work... I've ordered the V8 and I'm trying to make sure I get the right phone...

Just took a test drive in a Tech package 3.8 and it took me 30 seconds to pair up an iPhone 3G. During the test drive I received a call and when I got back to the lot I made a couple of calls. The sound was great for the other party and myself. The incoming call number shows up on the NAV screen.

The manual just says

To use a mobile phone with the system, it must be equipped with the following
technology: Bluetooth® wireless technology with HFP (hands-free profile).

I do believe that just about any phone with bluetooth will be compatible.

Could be, but there is quite a difference in features, such as the ability to see signal strength, battery status, caller ID, etc. There is also a big difference between phones in the way a call is placed. Some phones will connect through the car's speakers as soon as you dial, while others require some sort of transfer procedure.

As an example, Microsoft's SYNC compatibility table for Ford vehicles lists dozens of phones, none of which is 100% compatible.

...I made sure to protect myself by saying, "just about" any phone with bluetooth. :p

Does the name show up on the NAV screen as well as the number? Is there a cable to connect the iPhone so that the iPod portion works on the NAV screen as well?

I have not actualy received a call while in the car so I can't answer the question about whether a name shows up.

Yes, there is a special iPod cable which works with the iPhone (both old and new) for using the iPod function. The cable seems to be available from a Hyundai dealer or on eBay for about $30. You must have the special cable. As far as I can tell when you have the phone connected via the special cable, the iPod function works but the phone does not work. Maybe some one will correct me if I am wrong about the phone not working. When I got the special cable it was not available from Apple or AT&T.

Thanks for the info. Im glad there is a cable, but disappointed to hear the phone might not work. Can anyone confirm this?

What kind of phone? If someone here has one, they can confirm. Re caller ID, the phone sends the number only to the DIS. IF you have the phonebook loaded in the DIS, the system does a lookup and will match the inbound number with the name you have entered in the phonebook, and display BOTH.

Im using the iPhone 3G. When you say having the phone loaded do I have to manually type in each name in the phonebook? My current car pulls in the name and numbers of all my phone entires. I really hope this is not the case!

I just leased a Genesis Coupe 3.8V6, I have a HTC Vivid phone, it will work through the speakers but will not download contacts from my phonebook. Hyundai said my phone isnt compatible
