  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just bought my 09 Genesis a month ago. I paired the phone and it works.
However, I cannot import the phone book from my Android phone. Is there a update to allow my phone book to import. I rented a Chrysler 200 last week and it paired then imported my complete phone book.
Any suggestions?

Thanks Tom (My Genni)

The 2009 Genny doesn't import phone book data from your phone. To the best of my knowledge there has never been any software updates and i wouldn't hold my breath waiting for one. The Genesis is a great car but Hyundai doesn't seem too interested in helping owners with updates of this sort of thing.

Salesman imported both my phone book and my wife's. Took a second and didn't seem to take a lot of effort. Mine is a 2012 3.8 with a tech & comfort package. Seem there should be an update for yours.

The phone book import was not adapted by Bluetooth until 8/26/2010 and was spec'd in version 1.1 of Bluetooth. The current version of Bluetooth is 4.0. IIRC, my 2012 Genesis is running Version 3.0.

Unless Hyundai comes out with an update for the Bluetooth software, what you see is what you get. I don't know of any company that updates to later versions of software on cars that have already been built, unless there is a bug. Lack of features is not considered a problem.

You can check the adapted features of Bluetooth here

BMW Bluetooth was importing phone book information in 2003 (they are the earliest car maker I know to integrated Bluetooth hands-free). So, the capability has been there for a decade. That said, if it is not in the 2009, Hyundai just chose not to incorporate that in their design. And, if there is not an update by now, it probably is not going to happen.

One option could be to retrofit the feature in the car. I am still learning my way around, but my previous car could retrofit features from other newer models pretty easily. Maybe it is only a matter of finding and upgrading the Bluetooth module to one from a 2010 or newer Genny. That might be worth it-- I love the voice dialing of any contact in my phone book.

im in the same boat. Wondering if we can swap out the bluetooth module, and update the firmware using a 2010+ firmware. Really miss the import function

BUMP:

Resurrecting this since I just bought a used 2009 3.8 and really wish the radio/phone etc integration was a bit more sophisticated (hate that I can't stream music via BT).

So has this system ever been updated since it first came out or is it just how it is and I'll have to just live with it since I can't put in a new aftermarket head unit that does what I want (BT streaming etc)?

I just spent $235 to upgrade my 2012 Gen Jog Dial Nav System Software to the latest version 10 (Dec 2015). It updates the streets, highways, and POI's, but unfortunately does nothing to allow Bluetooth streaming, or even the phone to connect to the USB port in s 2012 without beeping and flashing.

Do not waste your time with updating your navigation software, if your hope is to gain functionality. You would be very disappointed.

Do not fall for MapNSoft's deceptive sales tactics that would make you believe your car will have an "ApplePlay like interface, streaming audio, and other great features".

I find it telling no one from the company hasn't provided even a crumb on this thread to help us understand. I have a 2012 3.8.

When they see it, but ignore you, typically means they don't want us to know something.
