  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Is there something special about the G80 wiper blades?

I’d like to replace the wiper blades on my 23 G80 EV which takes the standard 26” & 16” sizes. Yet when I go on Amazon for these sizes, it comes back with the prompt, “Will not fit your 2023 electrified G80”. I can’t imagine what would be different about these.

Does anyone have any idea or is this just an error on Amazon?

Few here have that model so far so you may not get a reply.

I'd go to my local auto parts store and buy one and try it. If it does not fit, you can return it right there. Many of the stores will replace it for you too.

Thanks, Ed. It seems though that nobody has this size in stock (26" & 16"). I just got off the phone with Genesis parts, and it appears there is something different about the G80 EV wiper blades, but from what the parts guy said, it sounds to me that it's mostly cosmetic. He did say aftermarket replacements may not fit properly, so who knows? As I look at the original ones on my car, it does seem they are a smooth continuous housing as opposed to some aftermarket replacements. I'm not sure how much, if anything, that means.

If necessary I can always get the replacements from Genesis for $60.

26 and 16 are what my 2018 gasoline G80 also uses. I've been using the curved beam Rain-X blades (smooth continuous housing). I haven't found them hard to find so far. Walmart usually has them, though I've been getting them from Amazon.

Joe, what's weird is that when you go on Walmart's site, I get the same response I get on Amazon's site, 'won't fit your 23 Genesis G80 EV'. Go figure.

If you need wiper blades on your 2023 Genesis why isn't the Dealer replacing them under warranty?

I haven’t pursued that thinking it would just be easier replacing them myself, and since it was a ‘consumable’ part, they might not even cover it.

I had gotten some chatter in a light rain, but I’ve cleaned the blades since then and will see how they perform in the next rain.

Maybe 2023 just isn't in their cross reference lists yet.

Personally I am an OEM person. I had some chatter from my blades shortly after I purchased my car I had service to adjust the wiper arms tension and that took care of the issue.

Interesting, I never thought of it as an arm tension issue, but I guess it’s possible. I’ll see after the next rain.

Dealer won't replace wipers under warranty. Wipers are a disposable item like oil, brakes and fluids which are not typically covered by warranties.

2023 Genesis G80 drinking dinosaur blood versus electrons use a 26" driver and 16" passenger side wiper blade. I would expect your EV to use the same. Measure current size and keep receipt when you buy them.

Most windshield/wiper issues are due to worn blades or film on windshield. Thorough clean windshield (isopropyl alcohol) and replace wipers.

Genesis after-market parts are very rare although most have a Hyundai or Kia equivalent part number. Problem is, as told to me by a Hyundai parts guy, Hyundai doesn't allow Hyundai or Kia parts counters to sell to Genesis owners. Recently had Spark Plug orders (2) canceled by 2 Hyundai Dealers when they ran my VIN. Left my VIN off of 3rd order and received the plugs from Hyundai, ironically in Genesis boxes. NGK number on plugs doesn't even return hits on a Google search.

Excluded from the bumper-to-bumper warranty are parts that are considered “wear” parts. This includes parts like tires, spark plugs, oil filters, windshield wiper blades, light bulbs, and other components like the battery or air conditioner refrigerant that wear out due to normal usage.

Like to see the type of weather that would wear out wiper blades in less than a year! Something is defective, either blades, windshield or mechanisms.

Really? I consider making it a year with wiper blades to be doing really well. The general expectation here seems to be about 6 to 12 months, max.

Wow, I'm at 2 years and >55k miles and they still wipe like a 'Squeegy'. Guess my general expectation is higher.

It may help that you don't live in the "rainiest city in the United States." (Actually, I live next to it, but its similar here, and I do visit there...)

I see that more than one place makes that claim. This site is the one I am going by.

Happens, especially in some of the weather you see in NJ. Salt/sand on the roads and splashing slush can take blades out quickly. Sometimes the day or three after a storm is the worst on them. Rt 49 was not as heavily travelled compared to the Turnpike so maybe you don't see it much.

As an owner of an Electrified G80, and would suggest that the vehicle is not listed on the site, as opposed to any technical reason.

That's what I would typically think.

Yes, the blades are the same 26" driver & 16" passenger. I can't imagine they did anything significantly different with the EV blades. You'd think blades are blades.
