  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Is this a good deal?

Hello, new member here. I am thinking about buying a 2011 Genesis 4.6 for just under 26k with 14k miles on it. Does this sound like a good deal (one owner lease vehicle)? It sounds like a great deal to me, but I've noticed less equipped 3.8s are about the same price. Is this because people would rather have the better mileage?

Currently I drive a 2000 Cadillac Eldorado, but sadly, she is close to biting the dust. Anyways, any advice is appreciated in advance. :)

Sound very reasonable. I would definitely check the service records (car fax or dealership) to be sure it was serviced regularly.

Sometimes folks who lease for only a couple years don't worry much about routine maintenance 'coz they know they'll be getting rid of them before any problems crop up.

I was in the car retail business for many years and found this to be the case too often..... not everyone but enough for it to be a concern.

If all checks out and you like the car, go for it.

I bought manager's demo 2011 4.6 with 6,000 miles last November for just above 27,000.

As Shagnat says, check the records. If it was well maintained that's a good deal.

Bought a '10 4.6 with 13k last Oct for $25 flat (TTL) out the door.

Sounds about right to me, especially considering the low miles. Mileage and engine size seem to be the two main factors driving the price. I am new myself as I just bought a 2010 last week.

Whatever anyone says, the Best deal is the 1 you are happy with..
In all honesty not seeing or driving the car means it's all guesswork..
If the car is in 100% showroom condition, the miles are legit & it drives well
it very well might be a bargain//good price,,, The question IS, Are You Happy Paying The Price & Signing On The Line? ....
Ask for 2 or 3 Free Full services,
A guaranteed Loaner if it's In for Warranty work, over say 24hours..
And Question The Exact Warranty You Will Be Getting with the vehicle...
Good Luck....................

Check to make sure the 5/60000 warranty is still in effect. Sometimes on lease vehicles that is voided for subsequent buyers.

Thanks for the help guys. Unfortunately the car sold yesterday before I had a chance to buy .

I found another dealer who has 4 brand new '12 4.6s for sale, but their site still lists full price. Shouldn't these be discounted?? I sent them an email and asked, so we'll see.

Ok so they said 8k off msrp so about 34-35k. I'm hoping to get under 30k with trade in after all is said and done. Sound possible?

I bought my 2012 3.8 two years ago for 6K off the sticker price. You should get more than 8K off a new 2012 imho.

I'm guessing a new 2013 would go for the price you mentioned. If not today, than in 2 months when the 2014s start to hit the lot in big numbers. Hyundai has always discounted this car in a big way. Most luxury buyers either don't want to be seen driving a Hyundai or have no confidence in Hyundai.

Ah, but there are many folks who are not looking to pay overinflated prices for what often amounts to the overinflated image of many traditional luxury brands. Most of us here were looking for sensible luxury and great performance at a reasonable price. There is plenty of opportunity in that buyer's market.

I strongly agree with this and that's why I bought my G. But there must be reasons why Hyundai discounts this car so much to move them off the lot. People don't want to spend a lot on a Hyundai. I believe lack of snob appeal and perceived lack of quality (real or imagined) are two key reasons.

Look at the Equus. I live in Southern California and drive through Koreatown often. I can't remember the last time I saw an Equus.

Agreed. However, I must say that plenty of folks jealously drool when they see, or ride in, my Genesis. Folks who drive MB, BMW, Audi, Lexus, etc., are often considered ostentatious poseurs by the average Joe. As my Dad used to say, "Any $&@?#%^ can drive a Cadillac." Fill in your favorite prejorative. I think we Genesis owners are considered to be more intelligent. I never coveted poseurs, but I sure like to be admired for being smart.

Dudley,
Nine months ago in February I paid around $33500 for my '12 3.8 Tech. That was $10k under sticker. The dealer also had the 4.6's for $10k under and they were $2000 more than mine because of the added price for the engine. I'm thinking a 2012 by now should be discounted at least $10k and probably even $12k or more.
