is this legal in California?

Hi: I am thinking about getting these cool looking plates for my car.
this site make great looking license plates.

I would love to have a European style plate for the front and a retro California plate for the back with my DMV plate numbers on them.
Is this legal in California?
Do we have to use the plates that came from the DMV?

must be DMV plates
