  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Is this the design inspiration?

I remember when the 1st generation Genesis came out I thought Hyundai used the Lexus LS as the design inspiration. Do you suppose they looked to the new Lagonda Taraf for the styling cues for the 2nd gen cars? :D

Nah, they probably copied the Hyundai HCD-14 from NAIS 2013 ;)

I dunno - but that is a DAMN sharp looking car. I REALLY like that.... and yeah - it does look like there is a lot of influence to the Genny there. I could honestly see this being the Gen3 Genny. Very cool.

Then again - I also liked the Lagonda from the 80's as well.... also a very sharp & stately looking car...

And I also have to say that the Vantage from the same era is still to this day one of the sickest looking cars ever manufactured...

Hi Gary,

I don't think it was possible for Hyundai to use the Lagonda Taraf as it's design reference for the second generation Genesis Sedan because - unless I'm mistaken - the Genesis was on showroom floors before anyone saw it. In any event - the cars do share similarities from the front - mainly the grille and winged badge.

Hrm... I'd actually have to say the back of the g1 reminds me of the Accord... at least the taillights

Interior - straight out of the 5 and 7 series. Specifically the dash.

With regards to the rear of the Accord, the G1 Genesis came first. Honda copied the Genny.

Beat me to it. I thought the exact same thing as soon as I read his comment.

They both copied the previous BMW 5.

I'll have to watch for one out on the road, see if I can see it. I always thought it was the MB350.
The 2009-2011 Genesis tail lights look like the previous generation BMW 5 (clear on top half, and red on bottom half). From 2012-2014 the Genesis tail lights looked more like the MB E class (previous generation), so that may be what you are thinking of.
