Sorry, but to me, they don't look alike - very different lines. In person, it's even more obvious.

G1 design cues:

• Front - MB
• Back - BMW 5, MB E Class starting in 2012

G2 design cues:

• Front - Audi
• Back - Jaguar and others

The front being MB is so overplayed.

Only similarity was a center divider on the grill.

Much more BMW with the Hofmeister kinked greenhouse.

As for the 2G and Audi - Hyundai was the one which started the whole movement to oversized, hexagonal grills with the HED-2 and HED-3 concepts - tho by adding horizontal grill slats, can see how people think Audi when horizontal (and vertical) grill slats are generic.

The hexagonal grill making its way across Hyundai's lineup.

And the rear is more Sonata than anything.

The thing that the 2G Genesis shares more often with other models is the sloping roofline that is so en vogue now (not that the hexagonal shaped grill isn't as just about every auto-maker seems to be using it on at least one model if not their entire lineup) a la the Impala, Fusion, 200, Avalon, new Malibu, etc.

I remember when the 1st generation Genesis came out I thought Hyundai used the Lexus LS as the design inspiration. Do you suppose they looked to the new Lagonda Taraf for the styling cues for the 2nd gen cars?

How could it when the 2G Genesis went into production in Korea in 2013 and the Lagonda was revealed in Sept. of 2014 with production not starting late 2014/early this year.

So if anything, it would be the other way around, but designs are locked into place about 3 yrs prior to production.

You can say what you want, but back in 2009 a lot of people thought I was driving a MB or Maybach (owned by MB).
