  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

When trying to come to a stop the car thinks I’m going to hit the car in front of me, even when I’m nowhere near the car. Also, when sitting at a traffic light/stop sign, the sensors think I’m close to the vehicle and turns on all the cameras and the car beeps as if I’m getting close to the car.

I believe this is a very common problem on more then on model. When you bring to dealer they act all surprised. I have had the issue twice on my 2023 G70 and it is back...generally occurs when cold. My friend has had it once and fixed last year on his 2026 g70. dealer will replace sensor - make sure it happens all the time before you bring it in. Good luck

Thank you buddy. The car is at the dealer and they couldn’t replicate the issue, so no replacement or fixing for now. The issue happens all the time but suddenly it stopped happening at the dealer. They couldn’t even replicate a simple issue with a faulty start stop system where the car never turns off after full conditions are met. I contacted corporate for a possible buyback. Mind you I only had the car for 3 weeks

I don't have the problem with the car thinking it is going to hit the one in front of me, But, I do get the warnings sitting at read lights. I had the same issue with my 2018 Audi. Most of the time, I would find a ford truck in the mix as they are notorious for causing this on other cars.

Many people don't realize the sensors are made by a third party and used by many different brands. Your front sensor recognizes his cousin rear sensor on other cars. Yes, Ford trucks seem to be the worst, but Tesla and Range Rover are bad too. I allow a couple of feet more than I used to when stopped and that helps.

Thank you so much for the advice! Dealer said they reprogrammed the system and adjusted the distance detected by the sensors. I will be getting my suv tomorrow and see how it goes. Fingers crossed.

The issue I was talking about was when the passenger side front sensor goes off when nothing is around. Generally, happens when cold and worse at night. Started again last march the stopped during may and happened again this year on first sub 45 degree today.

That’s kind of similar to what I had in the video. But that’s one of the scenarios. Another scenario I encounter is the front sensor will start beeping and shows i’m too close to the car in front of me (red color alert) then stops, then starts beeping again. I will record another video if it happens next time so you know what i’m talking about.

It’s annoying that it’s only happening with genesis and no other car brand

I have the same spurious problem with my 23 G80. I had it in the shop in September and they spent 2 hours troubleshooting because they were also unable to replicate. I am still living with this problem.

That's not the case. If you look at BMW and Lexus forums, it does happen with their brands as well. One of the solutions from multiple Lexus threads is to actually turn the front parking sensor OFF.

My Audi had the same issue when sitting at a light. The Audi had the about the same amount of false alarms at my Genesis. And again, mostly (But not always) Ford Trucks.

Do you know the name of the manufacturer for those sensors?

Since a good amount of people are dealing with this issue, how can we make genesis address it and issue a TSB or something? We paid a lot of money for this brand

Unfortunately the issue is still there.

I had a 2021 GV80 Prestige and the sensors went off all the time sitting at a stop light, something I just lived with.. About 10 months ago I traded it in for a 2025 GV80 Coupe e-SC. In just thinking about the sensors I just realized , no more sensor problems. No idea what Genesis did, but the situation does not exist on my 2025.

I’ll probably keep it for a little before I trade it in for another one. Looks like no other option for now
