  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi all,

I'm curious if any other G70 owners are experiencing the same thing as I have. When I'm driving the parking sensors would randomly go off when there aren't anything in front of me. Normally this happens when I'm stopped in traffic. I took it into the dealership and they "scanned all systems, no DTC's found" so I am curious if anyone else experiences these phantom warnings.

I was able to film a little of what I am experiencing (Google drive link). In it the front right and left go off showing a red bar. Front right goes off about 0:06 and the left at 0:26.

Yes, it has happened to most, if not all, of us while stopped in traffic and other cars are around (as seen in your video). In fact, the manual even mentions it. Evidently, other cars' sensors can interfere with the G70's, causing the occasional, and brief, warning. IIRC, Tesla, Ford, and Land Rover's specifically do it - though I may be wrong on those makes. Either way, it talks about it in the manual and is considered normal for our cars. Take a peek in there!

It had been discussed in other threads if you want more information. The FCC limits the frequencies things like the sensors can operate on so there will be conflicts with other cars or signals. Most noticeable with Ford, Mini, Tesla. Offhand, I don't know who makes the sensors but many car makers will be buying them from the same source. .

Thanks everyone! I had no idea it was so common. I did a search on it and hadn't see anything in the G70 forums, I definitely used the wrong search words. 😅 I feel much better knowing nothing is wrong with my precious

I've seen this happen with my '18 G80 Sport. I think I was behind a Ford 150 when it happened. If it's a long light, just turn it off for a moment.

Glad to know there's an explanation for this. I have experienced it a couple of times but I never became so annoying or concerning that I decided to look further into it.

Just curious, when mine is randomly going off while stopped behind one of those other cars, are theirs going off as well?

^No idea. 🤷

Can you turn off this feature? I have that in my current car and it did the same thing sitting at traffic lights. I turned it off a couple weeks after leasing and never looked back.

You can turn them off but I find them invaluable when parking or pulling out of a space, in conjunction with the front and rear cameras. I would never turn the off permanently just for the few times they go off accidentally. I find it a good safety feature.

I hope so, because its pretty annoying at long lights
On the G80 you just press the clearly marked button on the consul. The couple of times i did turn them off i put them right back on after the light.

I tend to forget that little cone button exists. It will turn off the whole system until you press it again, right?

Just press the "P" button near the drive selector to engage/disengage but be careful not to touch the "Ejection Seat" button near.

I just returned (lease) a 2016 Hyundai Genesis that had the same issue. The dealer decided to do a factory reset which wiped out all the changes I made. On the way home while stopped at a light it did it again. I now have a 2019 G90 and it did it to me too. I never thought about possible interferance from other cars. Really makes sense. It's an issue I can live with.
