If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

JB4

I do believe there is a new Beta JB4 update JB4_P35_KIA_V4_5.hex. For the KIA/Genesis 3.5t V4. Tuner

Yes, this was for me.

Terry and I were trying to eliminate some first drive spike and bucking hiccups with this beta.

He also suggested to enable Bit 7 for linear pedal mapping for anyone facing this issue.

Basically what a few have reported is after warm up and the first drive they see the first few pulls are not stable and cause some surge or far less than expected performance when compared to a warm up and let’s say your 3th attempt at romping on it.

Not major changes in that beta.

I am definitely feeling the surging/bucking when cold, to a point where I contemplated removing the JB4 until resolved. Has the beta firmware remedied or improved the issue ? I also volunteered to work with Terry, glad to hear you are doing so and some attention being paid. Thanks for the effort !

Seems better for me and I have enabled that other option I mentioned also which I think also helps.

That is this option in the app ?

Yes, I gave him my car for 3 days a couple weeks ago to tune out the rough running issues we're observing. Unfortunately it was the same week the fires broke out which caused evacuations in the surrounding area and cut our tuning time a day short. My observation is that the issue is not completely gone, but certainly improved. I still notice it more so when the engine is cold, and it's worst in comfort drive mode. This makes sense as he specifically asked me which mode I normally drive in, and around town that's sport mode always. Once warm, there's just a slight stumble/hesitation between about 1600-3000rpm's, but much less noticeable than before and outside of that it runs very strong.

I am running with option #7 enabled - "linear pedal mapping"

Kudos to Terry for making progress. I told him I'd provide feedback and possibly take the car back up there for a couple days to iron out any remaining wrinkles.

Ah, so you have Bit7 on also?

I turned that on last summer to get rid of that nasty surging I would get at part throttle as if it was teeter totting from stock to JB4 maps.

Then he gave me the beta you see which seemed to help some.
I need to see if I’m on the same update you speak of which was my beta update a few months back.

Hey folks, finally going to consolidate my G70 with a great tune and my wife's GV70 2.5T for a new GV70 Sport plus which we pick up on Tuesday. For the guys running the new version of firmware how is the performance delta between stock and JB4 - which maps are you running. Had a JB4 prior for my Infiniti and G70 but switched to SXTH tuning which was great but they have shutdown I think.

I'm looking to running it stock + JB4 as Terry doesnt seem to think plugs are needed unless you are messing with fuel or higher boosts.

Previously I got pissed off with the awkwardness (near impossible) of connection the fuel sensors without raising the car.

How easy / awkward is the install? I want to be able to take it off for dealer visits especially as it's new.

Thanks

Cliff Notes: mega easy install including the fuel connector. Map3 and 93 pump gas works fine across the board with no issues.

Don’t waste time with plugs and any higher map as the TCU will Nerf the power to the wheels so it’s a complete waste.

Take it form me, made 212 runs on dragy so far and have the top slot for now.

I tossed in the BMS filters but see no difference there but again, the Trans nerfs power over X% over stock.

Awesome notes and thanks so much - the new JB4 includes all the cables correct?

Yes, comes complete but I highly recommend to buy the extension cable for the Bluetooth dongle so you can bring it either inside the cabin the same hole you use for thenOBD2 cable or closest to the windshield but hidden from any water as we find it gets water inside somehow and stops working.
I put plastic wrap and a rubber band around mine for now until spring comes.

The fuel connector is under the passenger air of and easy to get to and the 2 map sensors is on top front of engine and near radiator fan. All easy to get to.

I dont know a

I dont know about easy install - cant even get the cable through the grommet into the engine bay, need to be a pigmy contortionist - my 250lbs 57 yr old body isnt up that....holy shit

any suggestions apart from kidnapping a small child with strong hands?

I just tried to get a pick to make it easy for ya but it won’t focus.

The under belly panel under the dash I couldn’t get off on mine for some reason nd others I’ve seen on YouTube don’t even have a belly panel.

But regardless of that you will see a hug round rubber grommet with a harness in it.
The grommet is so big and has much extra space, you can poke a hole on it easy, tape you wire to a long zip tie, then push it through the grommet and snake it to the other side so you can reach it.

The only caution I would give to this is make sure you poke that hole with something sharp, if you try to poke a hole with a skinny flat head as an example you with push the grommet out of place totally and it’s so gooey it’s hard to put back on place due to space. Not a big deal but can be annoying since space is tight for us fat boys.

Highly recommend getting that Bluetooth module extension cable first so you can bring the OBD2 and BT dongle into the interior. It’s prone to water induction even though it looks sealed.

Here you go, start the video at 7:20 mark.
He shows the grommet but he put his wire on the side of and didn’t poke a hole in it which is bad for him to do. Poke the hole instead please.

thanks for the video -
brand new car - I have the under belly panel as well which is a royal pain in the arse restricting any access - was trying with a carbon fibre snake pole but no joy....

Poke the hole from engine bay. Tape a razor to long screwdriver. Then tape wire to screwdriver and push wire into cabin downstream and you’ll see it by floor to I tape and pull

mmmm ok...I'll try that then maybe when its stopped snowing LOL
