  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

JD Power Genesis #2 in Quality!

That is for JD Power initial quality ratings.

Although Hyundai once owned a majority stake in Kia, it now owns only about 33%. But Hyundai and Kia still have extensive technology and part manufacturing sharing agreements.

Guess who's on top? Again...

Once again Kia has topped the J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Study... And guess who came in second? Genesis... You have to admit - the South Koreans are making some serious progress here. This is good stuff. I'm really impressed...

edit: Threads merged...

Whoa, wtf happened to Lexus?

Initial quality is not that important. Owners who took delivery of a Kia reported .78 problems on average. Lexus owners reported .98 problems on average. But we don't know what the problems were.

What is most important is medium and long term reliability of the major components of the car. JD Power is not good at reporting quality IMO. Consumer Reports is the best, because they capture and report information on specifically what components have problems, and they have a very large sample size.

^ Can't say that there is no correlation, however.

Acura dropped below the industry average in the 2014 IQS and finished below avg. in the 2017 VDS.

Whoa, wtf happened to Lexus?

Finally started to implement some new powertrains, including turbo engines.
