  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So far I have been enjoying my 2014 Equus but lately the throttle/transmission seems to be very jerky or "jumpy" between the 1000-2000 RPM on slow acceleration. Anyone else been experiencing this?

You know, I think I'm feeling that too. I thought maybe it was that whole transmission learning how you drive thing...

I also feel like its not downshifting when it should sometimes. Case it point when I'm going up an incline on a 30 mph road...I feel like it slows up rather than downshifting into a lower gear to keep the acceleration constant.

Its hard sometimes when you're a woman and you try to tell the service department something-but I've had two other Equus-and I know this seems different.

I think I may have it checked-keep me posted.

At first when it started happening, I thought it was the transmission or I got some bad premium fuel. Lol... I took my car in last week and they hooked it up to the computer and didn't see any errors. They did test drive the car with me to see if they could feel it. What they said they were going to do was reset the dynamics and also test drive some of the 2014's to see if they noticed they same thing.
On a side note, they were all puzzled about the DRL's not being " equipped" on the 2014's.

Thanks for keeping me updated.

I had to go out of town and just returned so I haven't done anything. I've completed a survey and did describe the situation extensively.

Another thing I noticed, when I let off the acclererator at an already low speed (anticipating a stop ahead), it downshifts and seems like I'm braking. I've driven a standard before and have done that, but don't recall this characteristic on my previous cars. This could be "normal" for this car-it'll save your brakes I guess. Just noticing, that's all.

There may be a software adjustment in the future...we'll see when more 2014's get out there.

I just got a 14 signature recently and it’s nice to see that somebody else has experienced what I am 5 years later. Haha

Trying to revive this to see if anyone has any updates.

I feel the jerkiness when it’s shiftingat low speeds. I also feel the downshifting as well.
Anybody know if this is just a particular quirk of the V8 in the 14 equus?

When I bought my low-mileage 2014 it did the same thing. I had the dealer do a "re-learn" on the transmission and it resolved the issue.

What is a re-learn?
