If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Trying to copy music from USB to Jukebox. USB is set up with folders (i.e. mine, his) but when we copy to jukebox, no folders even though folders is a choice in jukebox. Open jukebox folders and there is just a list of songs! PLUS some of the album covers we have entered on the USB did not copy over and some of them changed when copied to jukebox.
What are we doing wrong????? A lot of dollars for this car and it won't do something simple like this? Wish we'd known.
Further, you might say play your music through the USB and you'll have your folders! Well, yes we will BUT then we can't charge our phone because there isn't room for doing both. Wish we had known this!!!! Thought this car was up to snuff technically -- NOT SO!
Help if you can solve our problem!!! PLEASE and thank you!

How about a USB splitter. Seems like if a $10 adapter will work you'd be better off that buying a new car.

What problem? Just use an adapter and charge your phone in the cigarette lighter/power port.

I found this link concerning the same problem. I only skimmed it but it appears that JukeBox does not support folders during copying.

Folders copied to Jukebox?

this looks like it would certainly work probably giving me room for this PLUS charging my phone BUT why shouldn't Genesis make Jukebox work like it should! PLUS ... Still doesn't help me with the folders issue. When I would like to listen to my favorite songs, it doesn't help me at all to have to search for each one, one at a time, when I should be able to go to "my" folder and there are ALL my favorites for me to play and listen to. Not acceptable solution!

I would be the first to agree BUT when we first got the car, we tried Jukebox with a dozen or so songs and there they were -- FOLDERS -- as what was on our USB. They worked like they should. THen we decided to add all of our music and, what do you think, right, no folders and never since!

you do know there is a power only USB port in the console right? it even has a little notch to lead the wire out at the front on both sides so you don't crimp the wire.

OK, didn't know that. What does "power only USB port mean? ... does that mean just a charging port? Still have to take my phone out of my purse to use. I hate having to do that.
With folders in jukebox, no need to have my phone out of my purse! Only when I need to charge it and I almost always have it charged before getting into the car!
BUT this still doesn't solve the folders issue. There needs to be an answer to this folders issue!
Thanks, though, for the info. I'll check that out in the car sometime during today ... or tomorrow.

What did Genesis Customer Service tell you about it? Did they have any suggestions?

They have no answers. "will get back to us." No response.
suggestions are same as this thread. Not acceptable.
Folders worked one time; it was great. It was a test for us to try. Now, when we want to load our music, no folders! Plus even some of the cover artwork for the albums is gone and some it is artwork we NEVER saw before. Very strange! Need some answers!
Saw the ads on TV during football game yesterday for Genesis ... they looked fabulous. BUT when will Genesis get answers to our questions OR just get back to us!

Maybe there is some type of limit or something. What you should so is delete everything and try your test again. If that works then delete everything and try a test again with a few more folders and so on.

The answer to folders is to use a thumb drive. Leave the phone in your pocket and connect via bluetooth. You will see all the albums and the songs in them, You can use the steering wheel buttons to go to the next or last song. forget jukebox, its never (as in NEVER EVER) going to do what you want. Stop banging your head on this. What am I missing here?

I was addressing your "can't do both" comment from your original post. yes power only USB is a charge port, no need for a cig lighter converter, just a normal USB cable. The port in the console provides power only not data.

as for the folders. Page 55 of the Nav/GPS states that Jukebox Folders are to separate Video/Music/Pictures. The search feature allows search by artist, album, genre, etc. IF the mp3 or aac tags in your music files contain the correct tag info. If your files are CD rips and hold generic information then they may not work correctly in search.

Itemizing music by folder is only supported from a USB thumb drive, as indicated in the manual.

I don't understand the need to use the jukebox or a usb drive myself. I have an iPhone (Android is no different) which in of itself is a music playback device, the respective software (google music or iTunes) allows you to sort the music. the G80 allows for either Bluetooth or hard wired playback,.

so using Bluetooth you would never have to take the phone out of your purse, all the music would be on a single device that would automatically connect anytime you are in the car.. If you share the car you can link multiple phones so whomever is using the car would have their specific music with them on their phone.

If you are both in the car at the same time, you simply go into the Bluelink settings and choose which phone takes priority for sync to the car..

Really isn't that hard. My wife and I do this with all three of our cars, a 2017 Camry, 2018 G80 and a 1939 Ford Hot Rod with a modern Kenwood after market radio.. They all work the same way.

Can't help you there. I rarely listen to a USB with a bunch of folders and never bothered with the jukebox so I never tried. Most of the time I have SiriusXM on.

Well, thank you all for your feedback and suggestions. For the record, we have 2018 G80. Addressing Mr. Incredible's note "page 55 of the Nav ...." we do not have anything at all like that on our page 55. Our page 55 indicates you can play from the USB, etc. However, our page 55 indicates "copying the USB music file to Jukebox" ... I wouldn't expect our folders to appear except that they did the first time we copied music from USB to Jukebox. Subsequent tries (4), no folders, wrong artwork, artwork missing. As for music (itunes) through our phone, we haven't tried that yet even though we've paired our phones successfully. We did look for accessing music but see that available and were told by Genesis that we would have to use Car Play -- again take phone and plug it in!!! We will look at that today or tomorrow to be sure.
Also note about music by folder only from USB drive as indicated in manual -- we don't see that anywhere in our manual!
Mcc your comment about "stop banging your head on this. What am I missing?" Well, I'm not sure we will see our songs via bluetooth to our phone because Genesis has told us the way to see that is to use Car Play -- so again bluetooth not available for Car Play and connect using cable!
Also, I believe always that if a company is offering something, it should be able to be used! Either make this situation work, or explain how to use correctly, or say what won't work, or DON'T OFFER IT. Then take it out of the car. We were led to believe this should work. I'm banging my head because this was one feature I was looking forward to using. Now, after purchase, we're being told use Car Play!, or this will never, never work! Well, Genesis needs to make it work. It worked for us once so why not again! What am I missing?????

^ Okay, I think this qualifies as a tantrum. At least we finally learned the year/model of the car.

Here is a link to another thread about this and it seems like there is someone on there who got it to work although it may be what you are doing. It is from 2015 but maybe it will help. Also, have you tried just copying one folder at a time?

Jukebox question.

Yes, we tried one folder at a time but that didn't do it either.
We're actually thinking there is probably something very simple that we are missing.
Hopefully someone will find the missing piece or give us an idea to try.
I'm going to look at the other tread you mentioned.
Thanks.

I also have a 2018 and iPhone via Bluetooth works just fine. Carplay is a much better experience IMO, but via Bluetooth I can play Apple Music, Pandora, Spotify, Amazon Music, and Sirius iPhone App just fine. Steering controls and Jog dial work as well to a degree depending on the app being used, Apple Music and Pandora allow for full control and viewing of all playlists, artists, genre, albums, etc.

There are 4 different ways to play music in the car:

Jukebox
USB
Bluetooth
Hardwired

If none of these work for you, I don't know what to suggest. The system in the Genesis is by far the easiest and most intuitive system I have come across in 12 or so years and 2 dozen or so vehicles with integrated "infotainment" systems. If you think this system is difficult don't purchase an Acura, Lexus, Toyota, MBZ, or Audi, because methinks your head might explode.

The manual addresses all of this.. don't go by "they told us" 99.9% of sales people are clueless about the vehicles they sale, they will tell you anything to close the sale. Heck I was told the G80 Sport had the "exact same" autonomous drive features as Tesla, yeah ok.. I knew that to be B.S. when the salesman said it.
