  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Well, I'm not sure we will see our songs via bluetooth to our phone because Genesis has told us the way to see that is to use Car Play -- so again bluetooth not available for Car Play and connect using cable!

STOP believing what “Genesis” told you just put you music on you phone and connect with Bluetooth or on a thumb drive and you will see it works.

what is IMO and Jog dial please.
Thanks for your response.
Don't you agree though, that if the feature is in the car, it should work and there should be someone who tell a customer how! I feel if you offer a feature and you can't explain how it works, then don't put it in the car! Just my own personal feeling. Don't offer what you can't provide!

IMO is an acronym for In My Opinion.

Jog dial is the dial on your console:

I’d DOES work. It works exactly as it is described in the manual. It just doesn’t work the way you want it to. I can understand that and you should make you feelings known. Try Bluetooth or usb drive and see how it goes. Fair warning, it is fussy about how the tracks are numbers and what the albums are called on each track. That’s how it orders them and puts them into folders. Try with just a few tracks.

I can't speak to your dealership.

The one I purchased from had a specific "tech" person come to my house and sit with me for 2 hours and go over every tech feature of the vehicle, and he did a great job but he did forget a few things.

it is what it is, that is why there are owners manuals and other resources. I don't rely on the dealership to know anything, I spent 20 odd years working for GM and Chrysler, there are very few dealership employees that know or care, it's all about selling and if you aren't moving product you are just in the way.

OK guys on the first one met when I’m wrong my postings previously in this thread were directly related to the owners manual I personally had never tried loading songs on to the jukebox

Last night after I left work I attempted to do this I loaded 2072 songs 209 folders onto a 14 Gig Flash Drive.

I was able to successfully load all the songs and all the folders and search by folder or song artist album or title so it can be done, folders do work in jukebox

I made a video on how to do it and I will post that video up shortly also I did discover there is a small bug in how the system searches folders and I added that info into my video.

I’m impressed. Nice going. I’ll look for the video.
Instead of searching, can you see the albums and browse through the songs like on the thumb drive? I assume you can but just asking.

Yes, seems to work just like the thumb drive.

i'm uploading the video to youtube now.

ok the "Bug" Genesis G80 infotainment system seems to have a glitch wherein you can't search the folders you've uploaded until you select the songs list then go back to the folders list.

I'm not sure if it is a bug/glitch or intentional, as the manual describes "folders" as the separation of Music/Video/Pictures.

So it may require you to select Songs as to know you are searching the music folders and not the video or picture folders.

This is a work around so you can.

FWIW (for what its worth) I find this to be very cumbersome and I will never use the Jukebox or USB drive features. I have a dock for my phone you will see it to the right of the console when I put in the thumb drive. My phone gets docked and I use carplay. The iPhone and Android (Google Music) services do an excellent job of creating a database of the music for sorting and playlisting, additionally I can just say Hey Siri Play XXXX and not have to look for the artist or album.

To me an MP3 player aka the jukebox or thumb drive features built within the Infotainment system is 20 year old technology, I had an MP3 player in the early 2000s before the ipod came out that worked essentially the same way..

Anyway here is the Video, it shows you how to load the folders, I loaded 2072 songs in 209 folders in AAC, MP3, and M4a formats and they all loaded without issue. The video cuts off at the end because I split it to have a second video showing the bug, which I posted above.

I hope this clears up any issues and helps everyone understand how to make folders work.

How to upload music that is in folders to the jukebox.

What seems to be wrong with just using the usb drive? I use it all the time without apparent issues. I see folder and when I click on the I see all the songs. Scroll up and down to pick whatever I want. I admit I don’t usually search. No need for Bluetooth or cables.

personal preference I guess.

As I outlined, the iPhone does a great job of maintaining a database of the songs, and Siri makes it easy to just say "hey Siri, play this song, artist, playlist".

One can also purchase or sync a song via icloud and not have to deal with plugging in a USB stick into a computer and downloading a song to it. I do this quite often if I hear something I like and don't have.

I typically just dock and go, my Carplay is set to shuffle all music on the iPhone, I have 9000+ songs and over 100 playlists, But on any typical drive I just let the unit shuffle, if I don't want to hear the song I just uptick the steering control and skip it. I rarely mess with the radio or anything else when I drive, I focus my attention on the road.

Carplay offers the convivence of reading texts to you and answering them verbally, I have carried on a text conversation with people this way a few times, doesn't distract from driving anymore than having a conversation with a passenger.

USB or Jukebox might work for some and it is great that the Genesis gives you several options for music playback, most car makes don't. But for me I find the USB or Jukebox method to be clumsy and archaic. But also take into account I am a database and software engineer in the Credit Card industry, so I like things a certain way when it comes to technology.

I get your reasoning.
I guess my music is pretty static and I want to save space on my phone so I use usb (forget about jukebox, I don’t se any advantage with it).

I have a 256gb iPhone, over 9000 songs and 97 movies. plus 200Gb of iCloud; not really worried about space. Even with all that I have 88gb available on the phone. Also have unlimited data on my family plan, which is paid for by my company. . so not really a concern for me.

I like simplicity, 1 device to do all, no keys (use a smart card), minimalist wallet with ID, medical cards, and debit card, I use apple pay for all my other cards.

I only have 64gb iPhone but I do have 14gb left. I might try just the phone. Like you I like simplicity, Apple Pay, no keys, . . .

FYI - there is a setting in iOS for iTunes to use higher quality streaming. You may already be aware of it, but others might not. It does sound better, especially on high-end systems.

yes I have it turned on. unlimited data is a great thing.

the setting if any one cares is in:

settings --> music --> use cellular data --> high quality on cellular.

also IMO setting the Music EQ to Flat when hire wired or Bluetooth connected to the Lexicon system gives you the best quality., using the Genesis settings for high/mid/low and not the phone, this way the data comes from the phone uncorrected and gets corrected at the head unit.

Where is the thread originator? I would like to see watched your video and how it worked for her.

no idea, I sent her a PM and told her I figured out her issue and posted a video,

I will admit my demeanor was a bit harsh, and I did apologize for it, I am not to big to admit when I am wrong, I was only going by what I was reading in the manual and I will admit that now having done the transfer the manual is lacking in explanation on how the whole system works.
