If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just bought my wife the Sterling Blue 3.8L outside Kansas City, MO, and took it St. Louis, and then back to Dallas, TX for about 1000mi road trip this weekend.

First off, I was waiting, watching, and ready to bitch to my wife about the suspension problems/porpoising, etc. No such "luck". We had this on highway, broken highway, country highway, ups, downs, dips, and just about every condition that I would want to drive on. Very nice ride. Smoother than my father-in law's Mercedes CL63 AMG, but not quite as smooth as his wife's CL600.

Some pet peeves and/or things we haven't figured out:

I sense tickets coming on. We found ourselves doing 80 almost all the time and having that "feel" like 65.

How to dim the DIS at night. (Has daytime setting, but no nightime setting?) It's too bright when on dark roads at night.

No engine oil change/service reminders? I don't find any reference to this in the manual, and find it shocking this thing won't tell my wife when it's time to change the oil.

The DIS doesn't allow for fast song selection from iPod. Paging through 100's of songs sucks. Need a shortcut way to spell names.

The DIS doesn't allow for random iPod song playback.

The green tailights light in the dash makes me think I have something turned on that I shouldn't. Do I? It's so "in your face"... why do I care if my taillights are on when my headlights are on?

I'm really enjoying my arguments with the voice-control lady. Apparently, there's no "FM RADIO PRESET ONE" type of command.

The phone bluetooth sync doesn't seem to swap out between my wife and I's phone automatically.

I can't turn off the congratulatory "ding" from the navigator when I've accomplished what she's told me to do.

The seat position memory should sense which key is being used, and automatically adjust to that preset.

Ok, so as you can see, my gripe list is pretty petty and minor, and I like to gripe about everything. In other words, I'm pretty darned pleased with this car.

If anyone has any solutions to any of the above, that'd be nice.

That probably is a good point. Will do tonight.

Congrats - it's a beautiful car and I know many love their ride.

It's like you read my mind!!!

One other gripe that I have: on my Lincoln LS, a chime would go off when DTE was 50 miles, then again at 40, then again at 20, etc. On the Genesis, from what I can see the yellow gas light comes on at around 50 miles left and the display flashes three dotted lines at 30 miles left in the tank.

I know it's minor, but I really liked hearing that chime as a reminder.

The DIS can be dimmed by setting it to "Auto" mode which makes it show everything on a black background instead of white. Works great in my V6/Tech Pkg.

Also - it is not obvious, but the navigation lady can be muted completely (not just volume down). It is in the Nav menu that comes up during route guidance.

The iPod integration is terrible when there are thousands of songs. When viewing songs by Album or Artist, it always defaults to first page starting with "A" and I have to page down repeatedly. Plus, it does not revert to current song when car is restarted after a quick stop like at a gas station. I gave up, and now use a corsair 64gb USB flash drive with my iTunes music folder. Works pretty well, as long as songs are mp3 files. Won't work for iTunes purchases (aac files).

Man oh man! This car is fluky. I have a 32GB Corsair flash drive loaded with 3800 320kbps songs. Sounds great for the 3 songs it plays before it gives up. Had to use my ipod which doesn't seem to sound as good but works flawlessly. Always restarts right where it left off. Ordered a 120GB ipod so I can try Apple lossless to see if it'll sound better.

For me, If I chose to randomize playback... it freezes up after 3 songs or so. If I play sequentially, it plays perfectly forever. So, I wrote a little script to rename the songs on my flash drive by song name - Artist, which effectively randomizes play to some extent.

Amazing how all of the little things add up. I suspect that people coming out of other luxury cars instead of a Sonata or Accord notice more of these details...or their absence.

I have tried mulitple memory stick with great results... I would really look at the read/write speed of the mem sticks you are using... sometime those lesser expensive drives don't read fast enough for the system to operate properly... just a though. I usually only buy quality drives, kingston, PNY, sandisk, etc.

The list reverts back to the first page (aargh) but the music starts at the same place as when turned off. What model corsair are you using? Mine is a standard 32GB Voyager.

I didn’t randomize and still had no success.

I came out of a Mazdaspeed6. Trying to get an ipod to work in that turned out to be a nightmare. If only the song listing would go to the now playing song, I'd be really happy. At least I can listen to all songs on the ipod, though in order and the next track selection works.

I tried a 16GB SanDisk and it was worse than the Corsair. My 256MB SanDisk did work perfectly but using that would be pointless. If roadrunner’s Corsair turns out to be the same model as mine.. ???

At least I don’t have to change CD’s and using Apple Lossless sounds great on the Lexicon.

There has been some speculation on the "Suspension" thread that Hyundai might address the suspension issue and cut it in mid-'09, rather than wait for the '10 model year. If I read many more posts like this on recent purchases, I might be lead to believe they've done just that.

Thoughts? Anything official from Hyundai?

What suspension issue? Had mine since the last day of July no problem here.
I am thinking this is a very subjective issue. I have a 1996 BMW 850 ci. It has an adjustable suspension. If you put it on "sport" it will knock your teeth out on the slightest bump. If you put it on "comfort" it will knock your teeth out on the slightest bump.

The Genesis is always on "super comfort".

LOL on that one. Same way I feel after getting out of an Infiniti M35 Sport. The slightest encounter with an imperfection or bump in the road could have easily been followed by a trip to the dentist! Nothing but smooth sailing in the Genesis.
