  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just bought a 4.6/Tech in Canada

Nice pics Jake. Looks like Joe Walsh is jamming with his helmet cam on your display screen. What a great DVD!

Well I got the tires (Nokian WR G2) installed this morning and tried some of the usual roads to test the tires on the Genesis. Packed snow there is an approximately 50% better cornering adhesion when performing s-curve transitions, 40% better stopping and 40% percent better starting. On pure ice there is less benefit than the stock Dunlops, but still quite an appreciable difference allround. On the highway, the tires feel as responsive on off ramp cornering, but are noticably quieter than the Dunlops on Alberta roads, with less transmission of noise on tar strips and pebble finished roads. I feel that they are a definite asset and will be running the tires year round as they have a 50k treadlife warranty. Pricing is $1400+ installed for my 4.6 with no TPMS.

On a side note, I prefer the leather dash as well to the 3.8 all plastic wood finish. Another reason I picked the 4.6, is the power/torque of the engine at passing speeds and the LSD for traction. I couldn't quite reach the Tech package 4.6 in my budget, so I had to choose between the Tech 3.8 or non tech 4.6. I am happy with my purchase!

Canadian buyers get far less choice to mix and match colours and options. Only the 4.6 gets leather inserts and air conditioned seat is only with the Tech package (3.8 or 4.6). Also, each exterior colour is matched with a single interior colour combination and cannot be modified. I would have liked a Titanium Gray with brown leather. However, only the Champagne Beige offers the brown leather. I didn't like the reddish wood that comes with the black interior so I had to choose the cashmere leather which forced me to chose between red or blue exterior. Kind an ass-backward way to choose the colour of a car. My German friends laugh at how North Americans buy cars. They pick everything from the ground up and wait for it to be built. They even get a discount for picking up at the factory instead of the dealership.

You mean they [Germans] buy German cars that way? I think you can still custom order most Amercian cars in US.

Hi,
I have a 3.8 Tech. I live in Montreal and we received more than 7 feets of snow during this winter. I put 17 inches wheel with Michelin X-ICE and it's very acceptable. My prévious car was a Mustang GT and naturally the Genesis it by far better. I have the opportunity to have an other véhicule ( Ford Edge AWD) but I only feel to use it only once during a big snow storm.

Hey gang,

Thanks all for responding once again...
I just found out that today my car (In Korea of course) was assigned a serial number, it will be put on the ship soon enough and they said could take between 5 to 6 weeks.

They said I'll be the only one driving (as of today) a white Genesis in Canada.
Only 3 whites sold across Canada but they are all demos.

Can't wait to get it.

I'd like to also thank all of you who posted their white colored Genesis as I saw every single picture.
:)

Hello,

I live an hour south of Ottawa and I am anxiously following all the Canadian comments about the Genesis, as I am looking to purchase one in the next year based on what I read from owners in this forum. I hope you all enjoy your vehicles. If anyone is looking for a black 3.8 /tech package, Seaway Hyundai in Cornwall, Ontario has a demo asking $43,995, but will deal.

Just bought the 3.8 Tech. Pick it up Monday, March 2.
Paid about $41,00 taxes in..:p

Waki
$41K tax in?! The 3.8 Tech retails for $45K plus $1760 delivery charge plus 13% tax for a total of $52,771! Either you got the deal of the century or you forgot to mention something. Did you trade in another car or something?

In Canada you can get fake wood, fake wood or fake wood.
Any package you chose comes with fake wood.

Well, all Genesis, anywhere in the world, comes with fake wood somewhere. What we're talking about here is the dash and door inserts and I can confirm that NOT all Genesis in Canada come with it. I have leather dash and door inserts.

But in Canada, all V6s get the wood dash/door.... while in the U.S., only the base model does.

I know, I've posted that already up-thread and identified it as a potential discrepancy between Canadian and American trim levels.
